WinMEnc (Supports subtitle, rm, mov, avi, wmv, etc)
The default program (edited version of VirtualDub) bundled with M6 could only handle avi to avi conversions, which is insufficient to most people.
This guide will show you how to convert files to your M6 in a much better way. It can decode all the popular video codecs and can even "bake" the subtitle into the finished file.
Instructions:
1. Download WinMEnc 0.61b (The program is pretty self-explanatory, but if you need help...)
2. Extract the files of the archive into a folder of your choice
3. Launch the program using "winmenc.exe"
4. Check that you have the profile "[DIVX] Meizu Miniplayer M6 [www.meizume.com].ini" loaded
5. If you wish to include subtitles, go to the subtitle tab and select what extension the subtitle is and edit the settings to your liking.
6. Add the files and convert.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThis is also an excellent program for encoding .VOB files directly off of a non-copyrighted dvd, or from a .VOB file on your computer that you have ripped.
Perhaps more importantly is the ability to manually tweak the audio lag and solve sync problems. In the "Extra" tab, in the "General" space, you can type in the following command:
-delay -x.xxx
This will cause the audio to lag by the desired amount of seconds. For example, I use "-delay -0.280" for almost any ripped DVD.
As a corollary, if you want the audio to start earlier, then you would put:
-delay x.xxx (remove the secondary "-")
And finally, I have found that even if you sync the audio with the video, over time, the audio will begin to un-sync itself. To remedy this, I usually encode the resulting video again in Virtual Dub MPEG2.
I cannot stress the importance of running a video file through two conversions--it truly refines the process. (I personally use winmenc then VDub MPEG2. There may very well be more efficient ways to get a polished video. If so, please post!!)Last edited by liquidsense; 11-16-2006 at 12:53 AM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI have encountered problems with lotr: the two towers extended edition, when using WinMEnc. It seems that WinMEnc picks up commentary stream and subtitles with it. When encoding each chapter separately, this doesn't occur. My m6 is on the way and I want to make prepare some movies to be ready for it. Anyone got solution for this problem, or is m6's video capabilities at that level that it playes the movie trough without difference when comparing separate chapter encoding and whole movie encoded in to one file?
Thanks in advance

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsqscq,
I had the same problem with Winmenc. Randomly, certain .VOB files would have commentary audio instead of the regular audio. And indeed, when you put it on the Meizu, the commentary would play. The only way that I was able to counteract this was to discard or refrain from ripping any of the "extras" that come with the DVD. In other words, I only ripped the "main movie" and "menu". Ever since I started doing that, I've never had the problem.
Also, don't forget that you can use video converters like Virtual Dub MPEG2 to append resulting avi files into one long video.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsliquidsense,
How can you rip only the main movie and menu? Saying menu you mean the movie menu where you can select chapters etc?
edit: Now I got virtualdub to convert wmw:s, but when I try to convert .VOBs straight from dvd, it complains about copyright error. "protected content" or something like that would be the translation. And is there even a way to copy the whole dvd without having to convert every single .VOB file separately?
Winmenc does copy the two towers but as I said before, it picks up commentary and subtitles, I don't understand how you handled this problem, liquidsense, could you explain how you ripped the "main movie" and "menu". The Two Towers contains about 20 .VOBs.
I can always rip the movie in chapters with Winmenc, but how does m6 play them, without pauses or has the new chapter be selected and played?
Thanks againLast edited by qscq; 11-22-2006 at 02:47 PM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsYeh thanks for info liquidsense. I don't know if TTT is copyrighted or not, virtualdub just informed what I said in the previous message. That "content" can also be "part" or "sector".
I used Winmenc with default Audio stream which caused TTT to use commentary stream. But now I chose "0: ac3 (5.1): en aid: 112" as audio stream, and it worked. I don't know how making 5.1 -> 2.0 affects in stereo image. Someone can tell? Although, I might test it when my m6 arrives.
The Return of the King extended editions first dvd made it right with default stream.
There is also option for dts and "2: ac3 (stereo): en aid 130". Also there are same named streams as I mentioned above, but 2 in the beginning goes up by one and 130 too. I expect these to be commentary streams.
What does these "ac3" and "en aid" mean?
I have also wondered if I encode movies with Winmenc, then making copy of it with Virtualdub using filter "rotate by 90' right", does this rotate help if used like this? I read some thread where was said that rotating makes the movie "smoother". That means that framerate doesn't seem to be as low as without rotate or what?
Little off topic here but, anyone tried to use "3D surround sound effect" while watching movies? Does it actually help creating surround like sound?
PS: Still waiting for my m6 to arrive

actually you can rotate right 90 degrees on WinMenc... Type in "Rotate=1" in video filter (without the "")

I like WinMEnc, but wonder if anyone has figured out yet, why sometimes a single encoding will not get a file to play on an M6 and a seciond encode mostly solves this.
Also, I'm often finding that big avi's won't play on the M6 (bigger than around 600Mb). Is anyone else having this problem?
Finally, I have not managed to find a good source of WinMEnc instruction codes, such as which codes result in file joining etc. Does anyone have a file of these or a url of a list?

i think any memcoder command is possible since its the source for WinMenc---> Mencoder Video Converter Info Hope someone could find the rest of them and post the link

I have used this, Mediacoder, and various other things, and can convert video easily now. However, audio sync issues remain. What is the best way to fix the audio sync problems you get on every converter I have tried? Is this a firmware fix for the future, or can it be done with program settings?
