Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsHelp! Pixelated flv conversion
I have been using the Loli Video Convertor (btw great program) for about a year or so, both with my old SP and my SL. But recently when I've downloaded flv files and converted them thru LVC, when I've tried to play them on my m6, it is really pixelated and "blocky". When I hit the skip scene/fast-forward it goes fine but only for that one frame and then it's as if the objects on screen are being "stretched" whenever the camera or object moves.
Usually, the longer the video is, the more likely it is to have this problem, although some short videos have this also. And it only occurs when converting flv files. What is the problem? I have tried converting them thru another video convertor and then convert that file thru LVC but to no avail. What is wrong?
Thanks

.flv is usually heavily compressed, so do not expect converters to magically change them into good quality. Other than that, Lolita's converter is pretty much out of date - at least I didn't see any development within the last year.
Have you ever tried BatMan ? It features even 3 different methods for flv conversion :
1. built-in (MEncoder) : generic, sometimes audio sync problems with aac or mp4 flvs.
2. DirectShow (FFDShow) : same league as MEncoder.
3. special flv-plugin (FLV2AVI) : bit slowish but satisfying results.BatMan, the free video converter for Meizu players. Problems ? English First Aid here. Deutsche Erste Hilfe hier.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI also tried Batman but it comes up with the same result. I should also add that when I play the converted file on my computer it comes out fine. It's only when I try to play it on my m6 that it goes all blurred.

or took interest in some old thread without noticing it !!
so it may be the occasion to remind that @moitah.net there are some useful solutions to deal with flv extraction , flvplugin for VDub 'veterans' , etc..

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsquite fun, but I was just after a very "old ...Lolita" ( Low-Lee-Taa by Eleventh House as played in concert ) found on YouTube
indeed it is no HD ! with the usual blockiness associated to many Youtube videos; then any tweak that can improve would be most welcome , and here I would think of looking after the post-processing filters in the VideoLan Player for instance ; they are 'basic' PP filters with 3 levels (luma, chroma, deringing) ,but with all combined ( #6 here in Videolan) it cures some blockiness and as such helps in 'cleaning' the video (FFDshow provides with just about the same filters , and even two choices between Mplayer/ Nic's )
this approach of using PP filters at the 'input' level is nothing new and it has been used for DivX encoding with a patched MEG2DEC.dll
maybe it is something worth (not worse !
) to look after , since many people like to transcode YouTube (and the likes) FLV clips for their PMP
such feature could be a great 'plus' for Batman ( imho)

Who said you can't use the full range off ffdshow's built-in filters together with BatMan ? It comes even with a plugin that activates ffdshow's asharp for the duration of the transcoding (with an awesome effect to the crispness on the M6 I might add).

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsho yes I know that , while ( as you possibly know..) I still mainly use VDub and its filters , since you can monitor what you are doing ; and as for sharpening there are quite a few for VDub ,while I stick to the ( Graft/Foranna ) Unsharp filter since it is the more complete of all (imho)
In fact as for FLV videos, in the end it is possibly not such a good idea to go with extra pre-filtering since the codec built in post processing is yet quite powerful and things that still come out dirty after the built-in PP will need quite a lot of further filtering , and thus will eventually get way too blurry ...
for all these points, this is mainly why I keep with softwares where I can see what is happening , according to values being used with any kind of filter ; even if it take some more time ...
a simple case can be using the Levels filter ; you will easily screw the all thing if you can't see precisely what you set ; especially with the M6 since the (screen) video level is overboosted shifting the black point way too high
the D2 is much more forgiving here , keeping a normal black point easily even if you shift up low-mid tones; now this is why it is (was) so much fun to encode for the M6 , since it is much... more tricky
