    Video conversion in mac OSX

Hi! I just got my new fantastic nice M6 and I have been searching around for an easy way to convert video to it on my mac. Is there anybody out there that can give me the easiest step by step guide to make this work.
    Thanks alot

I have been looking at FFMPEGX, but havn´t figured out what settings I should use to make this work.

Now I have tried some different sollutions with quicktimepro and FFMPEGX. I get it to work more or less, but I havn´t found the best sollution yet. It takes to much time.

Anybody know how I can flip the movie in FFMPEGX? I can´t get it to work.

Howdy... Just ordered one of the lil mofo's. FFmpegX doesn't allow Rotation. And Quicktime Pro doesn't allow MP3 sound, even with Xvid installed. I've spent a lot of time on this. You know what looks promising? MPEGSTREAMCLIP. FREEWARE. Allows rotation, MP3 sound, Xvid. Please try it out. When I get my player I will post again to let you know how it does and how to set parameters.

I'm no OSX guru but i do know unix/linux systems.

You should technically be able to run mencoder on your osx via command line. There is a thread i started that uses a script to control mencoder.

    http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html

You will be able to locate a copy of mencoder. If you need help installing it just post here. Ill monitor this thread as well.:D

Mac OSX: Here are the correct settings for MPEGSTREAMCLIP

Yep MPEGSTREAMCLIP works beautifully for video conversion on Mac OSX. It is freeware and you can get it on Versiontracker.

I've attached a jpeg screenshot showing the settings that work for rotated xvid avi. I just saved the settings as a preset.

Meizu really should contact the software writers about licensing this and including it on the CD.
CORRECTION: I was converting Music Videos today and discovered Audio Khz should be 44.1 not 48 as in the picture below, or you may get lips out of sync. In any case, play around with audio bit rate & video bit rate if you have problems.

I just purchased an 8GB Meizu online at Walgreens.Com and I can't believe all I have to do is add MPEGSTREAMCLIP and iTuneMyWalkMan and I have a device that beats a $199 nano for only $139.00 (and it has all of the features of a video ipod up to 8GB)!

For some reason though I cannot read your attached thumbnail you posted yesterday. It shows up only as a small thumbnail that I cannot enlarge. My account was just activated so I may not have all of my permissions open.

Could you send me the thumbnail of the settings via email?

Also, I have just purchased Tiger for my iBook (640 in order to isedo I really need to install: (1)Quicktime Mpeg2 ( (2) DIVX (3)(4)

Also, I have just purchased Tiger for my iBook (640 SDRAM) and QuickTime7. Do I really need to separately install: (1)Quicktime Mpeg2 ($19.99); (2) DIVX ($19.99); (3) Flip4Mac WMV Player Pro ($29.00); and (4) Perian (Free).

Can Someone assist me with my first conversion. I have an avi video I can only open with VLC.

I placed it withing the blue dots of Mpegstreamclip.

I press save to the directory I wish.

Result: split screen with lines through the video.

    Can anyone advise?

    Got it!

But when I use your settings like shown above I get a running video but black screen only with sound....

And under sound settings I only get MPEG Layer 2.....

Why do you need to crop the video frame by 30 pixels?

Yes, I'm in the same situation. I used MPEGSTREAMCLIP on my mac but can't get mpeg-3 layer for sound as an option. As a result, no sound...

    HELP!

I can't seem to find the Xvid settings in the drop-down menu. Could someone please tell me where this is?

EDIT: Never mind, I had an older version apparently. Thanks anyways.

I did my first conversion using'video converter' (supplied cd in the packaging)
looks ok if it converted from digital camera( 30fps) but from a digital video cam (low resolution), pixel got jagged n broken.
Try a movie avi and twice the m6 got 'jam'...is due to large filesize or what?

ok, ok. So, does anyone actually know how to "do" video on the M6? We keep bouncing this around but there are no real results/solutions.

Can't see this image... the link takes me to a login page and I am already logged in. If I try to log in it tells me the username/PW is wrong and locks me out for 15 minutes.

    conversion on OSX

Someone's actually doing video conversions on the Mac? Could you post a definitve instruction. I just bought my mini and I'm going to return it if I can't get this to work. I've been using the mpeg streamclip but the files won't play on the meizu.

here is a link to MEncoder for Mac.
It can only be used from the command line, though. Search this forum and you will find a lot of examples how video conversion with mencoder for the M6 works.
Here is something for you to start from (posted by flyingbobo a while ago) :
    Code:
     mencoder Input.avi -idx -noodml -ofps 18 -vf scale=320:-2,expand=:240:::1,crop=320:240,rotate=1 -ovc lavc -ffourcc XVID -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=256:vmax_b_frames=0:vhq -sws 9 -srate 32000 -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=96:mode=0 -o Output.avi
    Have fun !
