Thanked 5 Times in 2 PostsBad color displaying
I don't know the right term for this. It's just, when I use a screenshot that only consists of shades of blue, it appears like if my M6 could only display about 65536 colors or so (same with videos). I guess you know what I mean, there are "strict divides" from eg ffff00 to eeee00 instead of smoothly changing the color over fe, fd etc.
Can you do anything against this?

The SL's display is a bit overdriven, which produces minor banding. Maybe that is your issue? If so, it unfortunately can't be fixed.

I got a TP and a SP..
and there's a really big difference in those screens..
the TP has much smoother colours in the darker images (and movies).
the SP you will see overlaps of colour in the darker images.
i will take picture of it.
i don't know what to do about it i think it has to do with the screen itself.

the pic's, see the difference
SP can't do the darker colours.
on this image the brightness of TP is 100% and SP 40%.

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostAccording to the specs, the M6's screen is a 260k color display. Assuming a linear display, this would equate to 18/3 bits = 6 bits = 64 levels of Red, Green and Blue... quite lower than the 256 levels in true color displays.
Out of this perspective, I think it's normal to get some color banding. This may sometimes be a bit more apparent, especially in dark areas, but that's just the way it is. It's an hardware limitation and there's no real solution for it.
Personally, I don't mind it very much.

Open some image with your favorite graphics editor, decrease color depth to 65k and use error diffusion method (or whatever it's called, I'm using Paint Shop Pro). :>

well here's the original..in attachment
320x240 24bit 225kB, (cant upload it is to big size it says)
i dont mind it ether, i have them both tp and sp.. : )
but the tp has a better screen deffently.
(i will use one for meizu fw and one for the upcomming rockbox)
if you want to get less colour overlay lines in video, try in
special options darker1, 2 or 3 in batman convertor.

Are you sure you don't mean SP and SL? I have noticed a definite difference in displays between my SP and my mom's SL. I skinned them both using Madman's Eros skin and mine has much more vivid colors. If you did indeed mean TP, it seems to be an ongoing problem with each newer model.

yess tp sp not sl
but you're right also that (in my case) sp has more vivid, more colour and is more light, but sp is worse in darker colours...
but yeah allright
