Conversion ususally depends on computer speed. What kind of computer have you got?
Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

I use a Dell Dimension 4500, it's not very good, but it gets most jobs done. I think i'll stick with Virtual Dub and the Video Converter on the Meizu website. VDub seems to work the best for me, and if the codec can not be handled, I let the other one do it. A movie takes about and hour and a half. Is that normal? I guess I'm not very tolerating.
I'm still waiting for my Meizu to come in, so no rush or anything. Can't wait!

It all depends on whether you are willing to trade quality for speed. I've tried the converter that came with my Meizu, Badak, Virtual Dub, and Batman. I've found Batman to be far superior on playback on my player. Audio is in sync and video is great.

we noticed that. I think you will need to waste a lot of time in the first place until you realize that converting speed means nothing once your videos playback choppy (MZ converter), have the wrong aspect ratio, cannot be fast forwarded, are not compatible with your converter (ever tried to convert anything else than avi or mpeg-2 with virtualdub ?) or don't play at all for no reason.

I remember when I first got my Meizu and was actually impressed with the MZ converter. {shudders} Of course, I came from using a chipod clone so I thing just about anything would have impressed me at that point. LOL

I don't mind the speed too much, as with a dual-core proc on my laptop, I can do other things while it's converting. Either that or I convert right before bedtime.

I always batch-convert my stuff overnight. Nothing is fast enough to do it right in time anyway, so who cares.

by the way, MEncoder has its problems with multi-core cpus, so I have made BatMan capable of running multiple times at once. You can simply run another instance of BatMan for each of your cores to make full use of them. The only downside is that you need different videos to convert for each instance. Still each instance is capable of batch processing as usual.
If you have a cpu with "Hyperthreading", don't misunderstand the two cores shown in the task manager as really having 2 cores. You don't have 2 cores, so you won't ever see one of them get over 50%. For instance, this is the case with the new Intel Atom processors.

I normally convert two batches anyways or else Batman tends to freeze up. Yes, I know what hyperthreading is, it's a technology that was made before we had multiple cores. Basically hyperthreading just tries to pretend to be a dual-core, to process multiple commands more efficiently, don't know if I can say it's much faster, as I have never tried one.

It's maybe a bit off topic, but can you explain ?

When I convert .flv files from YouTube in large quantities, say, two dozen, Batman just gives me an error message, I forget what it was. Anyhow, it won't even start that way.
