Problem with video, frozen blk screen

    Hello,

I just tried playing on of the anime episodes I had just converted using the Meizu vid converter. However, the screen went black (more like a dark navy) and has been like that for an hour.

None of the buttons work, not the reset or previous, or on/off.

Usually when a video is not compatiable the screen just flashes back and returns to normal.

Also, the computer can't read the hardware in this state. Its just stuck.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there anything I can do?

try letting it run out of juice and then use DFU or maybe just delete the file if you can connect it to the computer afterwards...

how long was the file you encoded?

How long did you do the reset for? Sometimes it take 30-60 seconds.

Sadly, I had my fingers pressing down on the reset for a long time. 1-2 minutes, and as I said nothing worked. It was just stuck... Thanks though.

I just let the battery run out lastnight, it worked but there's a new set of problems now. It will not externally charge with the plug socket charger. Movies that I converted still freeze up...ick.

I just requested a DFU from the support forum. Hopefully that works!

As for how long the file I encoded. There were 5 of them, each one was 23-24 minutes long. I read the reviews on Meizu before buying it, I know they can't quite play anything over 40 minutes. So, I stuck to anime episodes.

But thank you for your help, its much appreciated.

OK. This is what you do. That is, if you are STILL stuck.
Press and hold down the ENTER key for more then 15 seconds. Or hold it until the screen does not have a light. (The screen itself isn't totally black now is it? it has got the backlight still operating.)
The screen will turn itself off. Turn your MP3 back on and it'll be OK.

I get the same problem too, and I just hold the enter button down.

The same movies will ALWAYS freeze up* no matter what you do. Therefore, don't play the same movie.
I do not agree that the Meizu only plays 40 minutes or less. I copied the entire AND1 mixtape on there, which is around 2 hours long. It works fine (including audio sync, quality - converted with BADAK).

*Look up at my previous message on how to deal with black screen of death.

I'll try that the next time this happens, the enter button thing. ...that means I can't have my favourite anime episodes on my Meizu. Bummer.

Well, by 40 minutes or less I meant the video function. There have been a lot of complaints that people can't play full-length movies.

Anyways, just formatted my Meizu. Waiting for the dude back at the Meizu support forum to send me the DFU and firmware to fix up the bug that causes streaks and distortion on the screen.

    Thank you for the help!

Aerisida, you should be able to play any movies/tv programs including your anime, part of the problem will be with the encoding into a format for the Meizu.

Error recently posted on a new interface for VirtualDub. I've found that if you use this to convert your avi's, then they should play ok and at any length.

Give it a go. (once you've solved your other problems!)
