DVD to M6 using Linux GUIs- success by relative newbie

I'm no linux genius and very ignorant on codecs, etc -- so just wanted to share my trial and error experience trying to get some DVDs to my Meizu Miniplayer SP using linux (Linspire 6).

Below are the steps that I can pretty reliably get videos to work on my Meizu only using GUIs. Just about anything else I've tried (e.g. mencoder commands posted around here, etc) resulted in the terrible loud screeching garbled noise for audio (on the PC or on Meizu).

    Step 1
Use k9copy to create an MPEG (avi) from the DVD. In preferences I selected "lavc MPEG-4"

    Step 2
Open the avi in Avidemux and save with these settings:
Video = Mjpeg (Filter to resample framerate at 20 fps with linear blend)
    Audio = FFm AC3

    Step 3
Use MeizuVideoEncoder for KDE (a great little GUI for mencoder) with the default settings. link= *MeizuVideoEncoder KDE-Apps.org

So there it is. I realize I'm probably not doing it the easiest way, but it does work. However, I'd certainly be up for suggestions.
    Cheers!

It works pretty good in my limited testing of ripping TV shows from DVDs!

The latest version of Krip2clip has an option to start the MeizuVideoEncoder after DVD ripping: That makes my 3 steps in the first post to basically just two automated steps using mainly the program defaults.

If you have audio problems, try the "force encoding of audio tracks to high quality stereo mp3 (to avoid pass-thru extraction of audio tracks)" option in krip2clip.

    Cheers!

Ok, but what's the point with this thread ?
Did I make something wrong ? Sorry to ask, maybe obvious to you but also I may have misunderstood something : english is not my mother tongue.
Didn't know I was already a 'bot ! I'm on Linux since only two years !
(with only 29 posts, and a thousand downloads of a confidential freeware, wow, what an efficiency !!! )

Well, the admin should have deleted that post of mine as well. I wouldn't have minded, i'm a moderator myself (on another forum) and i know this kind of thing is necessary.

Anyway i'm glad you got cleared up.
