    Long movies on the M6?

Is there a way to convert a long movie (2 hr 16 mins)?

If not, what is the best way to cut the file into two pieces?

Hi, long movies shouldn't be a problem for any converter. If you still want to cut, you can use VirtualDub in Direct Stream copy mode and use the begin/end markers at the bottom to select the parts you want to save.
The only disadvantage of long movies is that they take longer to load before they start playing.

I found out something similar,i can watch episodes of the simpsons and south park (about 20 minutes), but i can't play longer movies which are like 90 minutes. I found a solution.

After conversion of your movies, use a program like Movietoolbox's moviesplitter to cut your movie into several parts (trial version can cut in 3 parts). Just put the parts of your movie on your Meizu and enjoy!

I don't know what you guys have used to convert your movies, but there are definitely a lot of programs that can convert whole movies that are playable, BatMan being one of them.

Definatly a problem with your conversions, I have movies up to 3 hours that play without any problems. Perhaps you can outline the steps, settings, programs you are using to convert your video files.

i had the same problem, i use the video cenverter that came with my meizu m6 and i have also tried to fix it by using virtualdub converter. bot failed. I managed to play the movies but i could not skip forward or continue from the 'recent video' map. If i tried it just went back to the start of the movie. Now i use a program to split a movie in several parts, which works fine with me.

i'm wondering what pc configuration people use to convert their movies? i think it's possible (if your machine is old) that the converter drops frames from the movie and causing the out-of-sync problem... if you have a weak processor, you shouldn't do anything on your pc while it is converting, so it can maximize it's efficiency!
i have a P4 2,4Ghz with 1Gb of ram and never had any problems with long movies!

perhaps you have a different firmware than those who get these working.

Umm... A video encoder won't drop frames unless you are actually recording from your screen. And a 2.4GHz P4 can barely encode videos for the M6 in realtime, the one i have here at my grandparents (1.8GHz Northwood oc'ed to 2.46GHz) only encodes at like 25FPS. My E2180 dual-core oc'ed to 3.30GHz does it at 80+ FPS, so even the weakest dual-core chip would be better than any P4 in encoding videos. On my Portege 4000 lappy which has a 750MHz PIII processor, videos get encoded at under 20FPS (so they take a shitload of time to complete), but still the end result is always a smooth video, so hardware can't be the issue unless you got bad RAM in your computer.

To the OP: By any chance, are you trying to change the framerate of the video? If yes, how do you do it? I've never had any sync issues with videos, i'm using Avisynth scripts to change the frame rate and open DVDs or other difficult formats and VirtualDub to convert.

(i really, really, really should get my act together and write that VirtualDub conversion guide)

ok you're right i just thought it's possible! i'm not that good at video encoding
ps: my p4 can encode at 80-100 fps (Batman says so, using Q4 settings...probably because the low fps and resolution and bitrate settings :D)

Or probably Batman is more efficient in converting than VirtualDub.

I also add a few filters like a little color and contrast boost, temporal smoother (blends adjacent frames together, makes the motion more fluent), and subtitles where they are needed. Those are probably what slow down the encoding, not the conversion process itself.

PS. If you got a Northwood core on your P4 and your mobo allows it, try an overclock. The Northies are very cool chips and go damn high. My 1.8GHz one goes up to 3.2GHz stable, but the mobo has a few issues with setting RAM dividers so i prefer to keep it at 2.46 for daily use (RAM limit on the default divider). Just keep it under 56 degrees C as above this temperature it starts throttling (slowing down) to keep itself cool.

    Have fun!
