Batman DVD ...nothing happens

Hey guys,

First of all Batman rules; it's so easy to use! One thing that I ran into and resloved, converted avi had no sync issues on my PC but on my M6 the audio was delated, I set the parameter delay -40 and all is well! (In case anyone does a search I thought I share)

Now to the problem I'm having, I have a Video_TS.IFO; I drag and drop it on my Batman (which works from .avi to .avi as mentioned above). Batman prompts for all the questions, I chose option 4 for quality, Title 1, Chapter 1=1, and default for audio and output. It will prompt for additional commands and I click Enter to continue, and that's it....after that nothing the cmd/dos window goes away and nothing ever happens.

If I can provide additional information please let me know. Thanks!

Hi, chapter 1=1 is not a valid input. If you just want the first chapter, you gotta enter 1-1.

what does "nothing" mean exactly ? Please describe what happens and if possible use special command "debug" to create and display a debug protocol.
Also try another DVD to be sure it isn't broken or incompatible.

Additional Info

By nothing I mean that when the normal Q1 Pass window comes up for a normal AVI; nothing happens here, no new window and the main Batman window goes away as well. I have tried it with 4 different DVD's. The DVD's were transfered using DVD Shrink.

Transferred from what to what ? Only standard DVDs (MPEG-2) are supported.

You press Enter when BatMan asks you for a AID, which will result in a default of 128. Are you sure that 128 is a valid audio stream on your DVD ? On some DVDs it's 160 or even another AID. Especially if you have used a 3rd-party application like DVDShrink to create your own DVD. One guy having problems even hat an AID of 0 (which is absolutely off-standard).
Before you have to enter an AID, BatMan should show you a list of available AIDs with a description.

Sorry the program is actually AnyDVD not DVD Shrink (though I wonder if that matters). Copied with the default settings so I assume it's MPEG-2; How can I determine the AID and MPEG version?

Thanks for your time by the way!

you are difficult to give any support because you don't read properly :-/ I said 2 times there is a list, and you don't mention a word if you see that list or what it contains.

So....

Bobby,

Hope you saw the Wink capture that I made....

Do I just assume that it's something with my machine and leave it at that?

I have a feeling you don't understand what I am writing. My last desperate try to help you is this screenshot :

you MUST select an aid FROM YOUR LIST !

Umm

Right then we have figured out the problem, this oh so wonderful list that you highlight with a red circle; I don't get that. Nothing I enter "en" for my default and then my next prompt doesn't show the list that you had.

After "en" I get
------- Title 1
------- Chapter 1
------- Language en

T = back to title selection
L = back to language selection

audio stream ID (aid, default=128) :

Enough of the English being my native language and all; if you don't want to help don't; clearly I have appreciated your help and have been friendly I do not feel that I deserve the attitude you are presenting.

I don't see what attitude you are criticizing ? I've been friendly too.
Btw, your list seems to be empty because there is no valid* audio stream information on your DVD, whatever it was created with.
Solution : use any other DVD Ripper to rip it down to avi, then convert the result with BatMan.

*in other words compatible with mplayer

Update - Kinda resloved...but it's a hassle

Let me explain. As Batman said I have no valid audio stream so how do I get one. Well surfing the net I found a program called "Fair Use Wizard" it'll covert an ISO into an avi.

The problem is that my files are as Video_TS so I launch DVD Shrink, select my Title 1 and save it back to my HD as an ISO file. Next I use Fair Use Wizard and create from that an AVI. After that is done I use batman to get it into M6 friendly format (not the proper word I know since it's still and AVI but you get my drift).

So to get one movie onto my M6 it's a 3 step 4 hour or so process.

- not every program that claims to produce standard "DVD" does so
- MEncoder (which BatMan uses) is not 100% compatible with every silver disc that claims to be a "DVD"
- if your DVD is not compatible, use any other DVD Ripper to rip it down to avi, then convert the result with BatMan
