18fps vs. 20fps
This is a discussion on 18fps vs. 20fps within the Video and Imaging forums, part of the miniPlayer M6 / SL category; Do you think it is better to use 18 or 20 fps? Both looks almost same in player....

well.. just like you say teh diffrence isnt much... just 2 frames per sec...
20 gives a slightly smoother video... 18 a slightely smaller file
in the end i personally dont think its makes much of a diffrence

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsWell, it more like player downsample 20fps to 18fps or something, i had analyzed video from memcoder on 20 fps and meizu promotional video that came on default in 20 fps and meizuone looks better. \:
I will try reencode meizu promotioan to 20 fps via video convertor.

hmm ok but recoding from 18 to 20 wont do much good as it will jsyt show you the same image twice or something
ofcourse from the original to 20 is better then original to 18...
I dont find it fo make much diffrence but if you do go for it

you need at least 25 frames per second to make the video smooth. If you gave me the option between 15 and 20, i'd go for 15 seeing as the miniPlayer plays 15fps videos without a hitch. (whereas in my experience, 18fps and above causes stuttering)
Current Rigs:
8GB iAudio 7 > Not in use
4GB + 32GB iAudio D2 > Alessandro MS-Pro
Sony MZ-NH1 > Headroom Total Bithead > Grado Labs PS-1
2GB Meizu M6 T1 > Not in use
8GB iPod Touch 2G > Shure SE530

butthe Meizu maxes out at 20...any more frames will not be displayed.
So the best you can get is 20...
i ise 18 but thats mainly for southpark so i dont seethe diffrence anyway

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsHmm i have issue with both 18 and 20 frames per secondes - in fast scenes frames don't change like when i watch in in computer but a bit slowly, hard tu describe, try it yourself.

i understand... it gets choppy

use 20 for the meizu and a higher frame rate for your computer
or is that whatyour doing already?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI tried a music video encoded 20fps and was getting stuttering/pauses every few seconds, I then tried 18fps and no stutter/pause ,smooth video and sound.
From now on I will be using 18 fps ,as you can't really tell the difference between 20 and 18 fps if it works , but most cases the miniplayer has a hard time doing 20fps. where as 15 or 18 fps is a lot smoother.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI should say 18fps works better for the most of time.I think Miniplayer doesn't support 20 fps very well.

Just a question: when converting wouldn't it be better to half the framerate?
Wouldn't it result in smoother video - especially for high movement scenes?
