Batman Real Video (.rm) conversion error - no audio
I am getting an error when I try to convert a Real Video (.rm) video file with Batman and the output file has no sound, but the video is fine. I have no problem with any other formats.
The video is the following (it is not a streaming video):
http://ocw.mit.edu/ans7870/6/6.002/f...3-0000-220k.rm
The errors that I get are:
ERROR: Could not open the required DirectShow codec drvc.so.
ERROR: Could not open the required DirectShow codec drv3.so.6.0
VDecoder init failed
This is a screenshot of pass 2 where you can see the errors:

It would appear that I am missing a codec, but it ends up using RealPlayer 8 RV30 decoder. I have RealVideo 8 and 9 codecs (drv33260.dll, drv43260.dll) in the codec folder.
Does anyone know what is wrong and how I can fix this problem?

Hi mrzud,
realvideo support seems to be more difficult than I thought. I am having 2 different kinds of .rm files here :
1. convert fine
2. mencoder crashes in the last pass
so yours is 3. convert but have no audio
I have to admit that I have no idea what's going on exactly. But as you can imagine - you'll never find the holy grail of video converting.
The only thing I can offer is to examine one of your video examples and do some more testing.
Oh, and one more thing : it would be good to carry BatMan-specific support to the BatMan thread, because I'd consider it to be too specific for this part of the forum.
Edit : checked your video and found out that it runs without sound on my Media Player Classic (using DirectShow filters) too while playing with sound on VLC. That tells me I have not the right DS codecs installed. I tell you when I find out some more on this.
Edit 2 : the above error message only tells us that mencoder failed to load the drvc.so driver which seems to be a linux architecture anyways, so it falls back to loading a windows driver which is rv30win. Everything okay so far. I assume that mencoder's realplayer plugin's compatibility is not 100%. So as long as we don't find a better plugin, we have to live with the fact that only some but not all real videos can be converted that way. Looking for updated plugins right now.Last edited by BobbyQ; 08-24-2007 at 07:08 AM.

Hey. I think I have solved your realvideo problem. But solving that has opened up new problems

That made me rewrite big parts of my program code.
I have now a working version of BatMan that can convert all realvideos I have found (including yours) with sound. But before I can release it, I'll have to do a lot of testing. It's practically a complete rewrite of the audio part.
Still, good news isn't it ?
Edit : I decided to branch into beta/stable form now on. That way you can download the latest beta and check out the new realvideo compatibility.Last edited by BobbyQ; 08-24-2007 at 06:26 PM.

works great
Absolutely amazing! Thank you so much. Sorry for making you have to rewrite a lot of your code. Good idea to offer a stable and beta version.
