1 mb = 1 minute?

Just saw the video of the dude saying you can convert videos to play on the meizu at 1 mb per min. @ dvd quality. Is this true?
What program do I use? I'm still waiting for my player. I'm tryin' to learn as much as I can before it arrives.

What this guy from Dane Elec said is nonsense (he is a salesman not a technician), 1 MB/min fullscreen looks awful. If you want to test it, use BatMan converter with Q0 quality profile, that's exactly 1 MB/min. Acceptable quality begins with 3 MB/min (Q3) and ends with 5 MB/min (Q5). Higher is not possible because the chip cannot process more.
Cartoons have a better compressability than movies, they start looking good at 2 MB/min already (Q2).

More like VCD quality is what you can best achieve from a meizu no matter how much bitrate you give to it. Since the display is 320x240 pixels (NTSC Standard VCD).
However it does shine with a skillfully done encode.

well, we're not speaking about the resolution here. It's about smoothness, details, colours, sharpness, overall quality. Of course it is no real DVD quality. But we want to make the best out of our display and chip.
