    Your quality-setting >>> Enter >>> your special-command >>> Enter >>> Enter.

I think (have only tried 'repair' and 'sharpen' so far).

When you drag a file to the batman icon a command window will open, you will see a list of quality settings to choose, type one in and press enter. You should now get a prompt to enter special commands. You will find a list of available commands in the about.txt file in the BatMan folder.

Most of them you just type in the setting you want ie: if you want to use the darker command type darker1, darker2 or darker3 depending on preferences and press enter. You should get a confirmation message that the darker feature has been set and an option to then input another command. denoise and sharpen work the same.

For volume and delay, work a little differently, you type volume press enter and then type the setting you want and press enter again. The same with delay.

Once you have entered all the commands you want just press enter again and the video should start encoding.

Just drag multiple files to the icon or if all the files are in a folder you can just drag the folder to the icon.

    Hi Superman.
You can drag and drop any combination of files, folders and subfolders onto the BatMan icon on your desktop. They will all get converted. Take a look at the screenshot on BatMan's Homepage (you can also go there by typing "hp" in the main menu ).
I have made it so that everything should be clear by carefully reading what's on the screen. And there is a help function you can evoke with "?" that lists the special commands.

I know a point-and-click adventure is easier than that, but if you take a closer look at BatMan's history you will see that it uses only very basic batch commands which have no capability of graphical interfaces. That's why it appears a bit unusual to you. Most of the people who know Linux or still remember the glorious days of MS-DOS will have an easier start with it.

EDIT : just uploaded a version with faster file handling, check it out.

    BobbyQ,

I just tried version 7-22 and I get some errors "echo off" or something...I couldn't get through the menu and had to go back to v7-13....

Also, another question, if I want to convert a DVD of tv episodes, is there any way to run multiple titles at once, having each a separate avi? Right now all I can figure is to do each title separately...it would be nice to have all episodes done when I wake...thanks.

it's so strange you guys have problems with the new version .. I have no idea. Please do the following :
    1. delete the Batman folder in %ProgramFiles%
    2. download the zip again. check if it is really from 22nd of July
    3. unzip, double-click the installer
3b. if you have Vista, set admin rights or XP Compatibility mode for %ProgramFiles%\Batman\BatMan.exe
    4. drag files to the BatMan icon

there is no way to rip more than one title at once (only possible with chapters). But you can use SmartRipper to rip the whole DVD to one VOB and drag this vob over to BatMan. If you want single chapter, you must use Smartripper in "each chapter a single vob file" mode.

your screenshot tells me that the language did not install properly. Double-click Batman to bring up the language selection and enter your country code. This could could be due to a corrupt lastlang.ini
I don't think it has anything to do with an .ifo, but while we're at it - remember that .ifo does not work from hdd (only vob) ! VIDEO_TS.IFO only directly from DVD or virtual DVD. This is covered in the Help 2.1

The same thing happens direct from DVD or Virtual Drive. Deleting the lastlang.ini fixes the problem but you have to do it before every .ifo. No problem with .avi files though.

I always have the same problem : when i drag a video on the BatMan desktop icon, nothing happens (except a brief black window). The installing process was successfull, but then nothing works. In an ancient version of the download link, after installing the program, i had a MS-DOS file on the BatMan folder, and i put my video in this MS-DOS icon and all worked fine. My OS is Windows XP Pro and i don't know what or where is the problem ? If someone has a solution... Thx in advance !

Hi all, could anyone tell me how to change the zoom mode? I've tried inputting "zoom wide" at the special commands but it doesn't seem to work. It just says "OK. You may enter another special command" so I don't know if the command is valid or not.

Hi ylac, in the main menu, before you choose a quality, type "z" and press enter to cycle between zoom modes.

thanks a lot bobbyq! I'm also having problems using the 'transfer' command. How do you set Batman to automatically transfer the movies to your miniplayer? Which usb mode does the miniplayer have to be in, MTP or MSU? Do I have to set the path to the miniplayer and if so, how do you do it?

    thanks,
    ylac

USB mode must be set to MSC for transfer to work.
First you should try the special command "transfer". You will be asked for a path to your Meizu, e.g. H:\VIDEO (BatMan remembers this).
You can also use the special command "transfermode" and set it to "alwaysmove" or "alwayscopy" when asked. This will activate the automatic transfer (use transfermode "manual" to turn off).
With every transfer action, BatMan will check your Meizu for set archive bits, and correct them to prevent the annoying automatic library update everytime you unplug the USB.

    Transfer Commend - Batman

    HAHAHA Glorious Days indeed!

But a question regarding the "transfer" command. I am using BatMan for Podcasts that I am syncing to my M6SL with Microsoft's SyncToy and would like to transfer files to an internal (C Drive) directory when they're complete - not the M6 (since I have other non-video content that I'm synching). Now, my RSS downloader is HappyFish and the default download directory is:

    C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\My Documents\HappyFish Downloads\..

I tried the transfer command to this path and (as expected) BatMan choked on it. Would it work if I bothered to enter the DOS path &/or would it be best to move the DL directory to my root to avoid any spaces in the path name? That's kind of a pain b/c I'd have to change the path in all my feed properties

Also, huge thanks for BatMan I was really frustrated with the Meizu encoder and some other encoders when I found it and it works great.

you just exhumed a very old thread :-)
A long time has passed and many things have been improved meanwhile.

Honestly, I haven't used the transfer command for a very long time und just noticed that it has a bug and can't be used at all right now .. will try to fix it soon.
The good news for you : BatMan has now another command by the name of "tempdir" that serves a different purpose but is absolutely able to solve your task. The initial use of tempdir was to enable people with read-only drives like CD-R or network paths to encode their videos with having to copy them to their hard disk first. BatMan uses the input file's path for temporary files and as output folder by default, so the "tempdir" command overrides that with a drive and path of your choice.

    Enable :
enter the special command "tempdir", then drag and drop your desired output folder into the BatMan window (spaces and even "&" characters are no problem). Alternatively to drag and drop, you can just type the path in manually. BatMan will now use your custom temp path all the time.

    Disable :
just enter "tempdir" again and then a space to disable.
