How to use Commands in Batman??

I followed the directions above and when I press "Enter" the Batman screen simply closes - any idea what is going on? I've enclosed a screen shot of what I see before I hit Enter:

"to enter something" means to type it in and finish the line by pressing the Enter key. You did not press Enter after "tempdir".
