The best program+settings...

Hi I recieved my M6 today and it seems wonderful.
I haven't tried videos on it though.

There was a program on the CD, but I guess it is not very good. So which program is the best one available for free?
And how much space does a full DVD movie use (just roughly)?

I use mencoder under linux to convert my videos (there is also a windows version). If you search the forums, you'll find some good settings for it. The filesize depends on the audio/video bitrates you choose for conversion. I'd estimate a one 1,5 hour movie would take up to 300 megs.

I just forgot that I need a ripper to get the movie from DVD to the computer. Which freeware progs are the best for that?

EDIT: Just downloaded "Free DVD Ripper 2.25", but it will only rip the different chapters (it is a DVD with some sketches etc. on, so I want the menu to be there for navigating), not the menu. Can this be done in some way?

Ah new problem... I tried to rip with Free DVD Ripper and then convert with the Video Converter as on the cd that came with the Meizu. I've tried several different options but none of them work. How come?

Try Magic DVD ripper. Make sure you chose the option Convert instead of Backup and choose AVI(Divx) from the drop down menu. It should then work in the Video Converter.

Forgot to add that Magic does cost money, but you can download the trial version and see if it works for you. I'm not sure about freeware programs. It's been so long since I've used anything other than Magic on my DVDs.

before I pay money I'd check out the free soft. There are tons of good and free programs even here in the board.
