Why don't you use the BatMan thread ? BatMan - einfache Stapelverarbeitung für MEncoder
Other than that, "skipping frame" is not an error message but a warning from mencoder. It happens everytime you are converting a source with >20 fps to the Meizu format.
Important is only if the resulting video is good or not.

BTW better frame rate downscaling methods don't skip frames ... but using it is much slower.

hm, I don't think I have fully understood the difference between "downscaling" and "skipping" when it comes to convert a 25 fps movie to 20 fps. Whatever you do, you lose 5 frames within a given second.
What are the commands for downscaling with mencoder ?

Well there is no way you can do it directly in mencoder, only way to do it in mencoder is to use avisynth frameserver as input for mencoder. But in this case on windouws i would use vdub commandline interface for encoding, bacause it have much better results on playable videos on m6.

Yes but skipping just drop them, and when you downscale/convert etc. image of each frame is calculated from previous and next frames (like on 100fps TV).

still don't get it .. imagine the following scene. A ball rolls from left to right.
    original movie (25 fps):
frame 01 : ball is at position 1 cm
frame 02 : ball is at position 2 cm
    ..
frame 25 : ball is at position 25 cm

now we want to convert to 20 fps.
skipping would just delete 5 frames by rounding down to integers (mod 20).
what do you expect "downscaling" to do here ? recalculate ball positions to e.g. 1.5 cm ? I doubt that somehow, since that is very complicated.

In you example, under the skipping scheme, frame 4, for example, of the original 25 frames is simply eliminated. So, in the resulting 20-frame clip, the ball leaps forward (jerkily) from the 3 cm position to the 5 cm position.

In contrast, in the downscaling scheme, the conversion software interpolates 25 steps into 20 somewhat bigger steps, resulting in a visibly smoother conversion.

Not exactly 1.5 cm but ... how to write it ... it is "ball at 1cm-motion" and next frame could be "motion-ball at 2cm" - this is realy simplified since it is converstion from 25 to 20 fps it is more complicated, but hope you got idea.

And then image is encoded by xvid or something.

Well ... try google as i did when i experimented with video encoding.

have done some reading now. There are a couple of programs which can do the trick indeed. My chin somewhat dropped on the floor when I realized what I have been missing all the time.
Back to Meizu. Does anybody know a free software tool for framerate conversion in that way ? The stuff I found was either not free or not suitable for scripting.

back to the "downscaling frames" question .. I believe that there is no converter right now that can do this trick for the Meizu, am I right ?
I have surfed the web and found some evidence that there are programs that can do it, but none of them are scriptable or usable plugins in virtualdub

There is and i think i even actually wrote some names here.

It is not so easy as one command line with parameters, but is can be easily used. And almost anything can be automated ('scriptable') it only depends on how much time you give to if, while you give almost no support from user that using it (and that can be bad sometimes when you are screwed in some code and it is not fun anymore).
