Converting DVD to run on 8 gb M6 Miniplayer

Hi Iv'e been trying to convert "The Great Escape" dvd to run on my M6 Miniplayer without much success.
Can anyone tell me exactly what steps I need to go through.
Do I first have to somehow RIP the DVD onto my PC before I use the Video Converter software which I understand turns the file into avi format.
Just using the Video Converter software that came with the player does not work
I have the latest Firmware 2.003.2 on the player.

what format did you RIP the DVD to?
The standard video converter of the player cant take all formats.

try a converter like Virtual Dub, Lolis or the one that a german member of thos board(Batman?) posted

You can give BatMan a try : http://www.meizume.com/german/
It can (experimentally) convert directly from DVD to Meizu format. But I recommend using a real Ripping program like DVDShrink or AutoGKnot, and then convert the resulting DivX with BatMan.
