Smooth Video Encoding Competition for M6 - CLOSING TODAY

    Hi all

I'm starting a competition to see who can encode the best using the sample file below.

Your mission: To encode the smoothest looking video and show it to people by uploading it here.

The winner will be chosen by polls, if I can make a poll here? If not, I'll work out another way.

Why am I doing this? The main reason is find out what settings are best. To begin by using one sample file, I want to see what works best. And not just for me, for everyone here. I hope you can see what i'm trying to do. Anyways it will be intresting to see who gives the best result.

Afterwards I would like to try an AVI sample file.

All you have to do is provide the following information and upload your video.

Please include the following Info when presenting your encoded file:

Your M6 Model and Current Firmware:
    Program Used:
    Video FPS:
    Video Codec:

I uploaded the original trailer to :
    http://www.sendmefile.com/00548916

Edit : oh, hehe. You've been faster it seems. Anyway, now we have it double.
This contest is highly interesting ! I hope we finally find the best solution with this strategy.

I would like to ask all contributors to make their videos fullscreen because that seems to be the format creating most watching comfort and causing most playback problems.

You're not using the Divx-codec, it's the libavcodec (lavc) MPEG-4 codec. Fourcc just makes it pretend to be divx. (divx is also MPEG-4)

Your M6 Model and Current Firmware: 2002.3 sp
    Program Used: mencoder
Video FPS: 18 (I do this for the odd reason of 18 being divisable by 3)
    Video Codec: xvid
    Video Bitrate: 256kbps
    Video Size: 3.56 megs
    Sound Info: 96kbps
    Rotation Used (Yes/No): yes
External Config File Used: I guess...
Other Info: i run videos through mencoder via a batch file:

    For files with no subs:

    chcp 1252
    set path=%path%;C:\Program Files\Video Converter\codecs\
    "C:\Program Files\Video Converter\mencoder.exe" %1 -idx -noodml -ss 6 -ofps 18 -noautoexpand -subpos 95 -subfont-autoscale 3 -subfont-outline 1 -subcp cp1250 -font "C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\tahoma.ttf" -vf scale=320:-2,expand=:240:::1,crop=320:240,rotate=1 -oac mp3lame -lameopts vbr=0 -lameopts br=96 -lameopts vol=6 -lameopts mode=0 -lameopts aq=7 -lameopts padding=3 -ovc lavc -ffourcc XVID -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=256:vmax_b_frames=0:vhq -sws 9 -o %2

    For files with subs:

    chcp 1252
    set path=%path%;C:\Program Files\Video Converter\codecs\
    "C:\Program Files\Video Converter\mencoder.exe" %1 -idx -noodml -ss 6 -ofps 18 -noautoexpand -subpos 95 -subfont-autoscale 3 -subfont-outline 1 -subcp cp1250 -font "C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\tahoma.ttf" -vf scale=320:-2,expand=:240:::1,crop=320:240,rotate=1 -oac mp3lame -lameopts vbr=0 -lameopts br=96 -lameopts vol=6 -lameopts mode=0 -lameopts aq=7 -lameopts padding=3 -ovc lavc -ffourcc XVID -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=256:vmax_b_frames=0:vhq -sws 9 -sub %2 -o %3

    I run the first like this: NoSubs.bat x:\folder\original_video.avi x:\converted\[m6]converted_video.avi

sound distorts if volume is up too high because I boost the volume in my conversion process. I also cut out the first 6 seconds in my encoding process as well to accomodate for bad frames (as per my batch file).

You can easily remove those options as I listed exactly what I do to convert, if you'd like to see different results.

When I play back the video on my meizu, the audio isnt distorted, because I play at a low volume (around 6-12).

Heck - I would be happy to get the M6 to properly play a full length movie encoded video without audio syncing issues, or other playback problems

I have tried numerous converters, and they all have one issue or another.

Once Meizu gets on the ball and fixes some of the video playback bugs, I would be happy to join the competition.

Your M6 Model and Current Firmware: SP Black 2gb 2.003.2
Program Used: Loli Video Converter (custom config)
    Video FPS: 20
    Video Codec: Xvid
    Video Bitrate: 350
    Video Size: 240 x 320
    Sound Info: Mp3 128bit 44100
    Rotation Used (Yes/No): Yes
    External Config File Used: Yes
Other Info: Used 2 pass encoding.

I've included my Loli Video Converter config file with my sample video. I also get quite good videos with a video bitrate of 400 aswell but using 350 cuts file size down a little without much quality loss.

I tend to use different encoding software depending on the source file etc. I've been having some good luck with PocketDivxEncoder aswell but so far Loli seems to be the most realiable in getting files to play on the M6.

It is wierd though. At home i can convert a file at 450 video bitrate and 128 audio and it will play well on my player. Try the same thing, same program, same everything at work and it freezes the player. Could be just a codec issue as i have just reformatted computer at home so its a little fresher.
