Help! converting on mac?
Im on a mac and i tried using http://www.techspansion.com/visualhub/
i set the video to be 320 x 240, 500 bit, 20 frames
but it doesnt work! i load it onto the miniplayer it goes to the screen, then it flashes and goes back to the menu...
argghh is there another program i can use for the mac?
sorry if this has been asked before but i cant find it...
edit: so i made the quality really really low and then it worked. however, the audio/video isnt very in sync.. i think this program is still not really working well. some one please direct me to a better solution?Last edited by coneyisland; 06-06-2007 at 04:43 AM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsYou could try to convert your video's using mencoder from a terminal. Mencoder should come bundled with mplayer: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/
The command I use for converting:
I haven't tested it yet however, but I should be able to get my M6 from the postoffice today.Code:mencoder originalmovie -idx -noodml -ofps 20 -vf scale=320:-2,expand=:240:::1,crop=320:240,rotate=1 -ovc xvid -ffourcc XVID -xvidencopts bitrate=384:max_bframes=0 -sws 9 -srate 44100 -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=128:mode=0 -o convertedmovie.avi

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI realize everyone has different hardware etc. I'm just relaying my experience. That said, I am using Handbrake (a beta software that is free on Versiontracker.com) to convert entire VOB movies for use in my M6. I've used an early model mac mini and a slower model ibook with identical results (except for processing speed) My mini (1.25 G4 with 1 GB ram) converts from VOB to meizu avi in about real-time. Faster machines should work better.
I've set the framerate at 15 fps and I've installed the latest Xvid plugin for Quicktime. I've sized the movie so it's largest dimension is 320. I've not experimented with cropping. Set the average bitrate at 384 (and click the button). Output file as an avi file using Xvid from the encoder pull down and you're good to go.
Playback is generally as smooth as you might expect from 15 fps and you can fast forward thru the video without crashing the player. Results with audio sync has been varied. A couple movies have been perfect. Others have minor problems.
Others give it a go and see if you find better settings. This discovery makes me feel this little guy is just what I was looking for !

the Meizu plays up to 20 fps, you don't have to reduce to 18 or even 15 just to get it running. And mencoder is a trusted companion in doing that for the Meizu.
