    issues with video playback

I converted a 30minute long video with iRiverter with the MeizuM6 profile and when the file is played on the M6, the screen sort of gets "split" and choppy when there's alot of action going on in the video. The video also pauses here and there for a second or two randomly and then continues playing. is this just how the video performs on the M6 or do some files just not work perfectly? or could this be a faulty M6? Thanks.

oh and btw, i'm using the latest meizu firmware and not the dane elec firmware, although this M6 is the dane elec version. could that cause any problems?

many people tell us that their video runs "perfect" and "no problem". But I haven't found a very good solution yet, altough I have already spent hours and hours on testing what everybody recommends.
The only viable solution I have yet discovered is "Loli's Video Converter" (use forum search). It produces pretty smooth video but mediocre picture quality. Sound is sync and okay.
With the other programs I have tried I have the same issues as you do.

I think it depends on the amount of motion in the film and the picture-quality you force the processor to deal with.

lolis video converter makes a smooth video, but the pixel-artefacts in the background are too many (in my opinion).
I`ve got the best results with MediaCoder, which (once adjusted) works very well.

hi my zoo, could you please be so kind and give us a short sample of a high-action scene you have encoded with mediacoder ?
I really would like to try that on my player if it makes any difference.
My own tries with mediacoder have produced the same problem as the other people here complain about : choppy performance.

How can i give you a sample? As i mentioned above, the `choppyness`depends on
the quality-preset while encoding and the kind of movie. So it is always a compromise, due to the limitations of the hardware.
I`m sorry, but i can`t give you the perfect solution, i`m still trying to explore it.
If you want to give MediaCoder another try, you can use the following preset:

please upload a small sequence of an action-scene encoded with mediacoder to any webspace (rapidshare or anything like that) or as an attachment here. I really would like to see if mediacoder can do it better than loli's.
If you don't have any other tool to cut the sequence, you can do it with virtualdub set to "direct stream copy" very easily. Just set start and end point with the arrow icons at the bottom of the window, and save as ..
    10 seconds should be sufficient.

My own results with mediacoder have been .. crap.

I have this file saved on my computer as a .wmv. I ran it through video converter and moved it to my video folder on my M6. When I try to play it, I hear a click and then it seems like it just locks the M6 with the scrollbar showing at the bottom but a blank screen. The only way I can regain control of the M6 is to hold the enter key for about 10 seconds.

Anyone have a suggestion how to make this work on the M6 or know what I've done wrong? I've converted a number of videos but this is the first one to behave badly.

Video Converter says the Video codec is WMV2 and the clip is about 3 minutes long, if that's helpful.

Try converting the video into another format before converting in M6- format.

Can I use the Meizu video converter to do that? Or do I need another program? I'm not very familiar with video conversion.

If the former... does using Divx4 codec convert to another format? Or does it convert to AVI too?

Is there a sticky that explains how the video conversion process works?

    Download MediaCoder-0.6.0.3670 just google it.
Grab the config file on page 6 on the video conversion thread.
Startup up mediacoder and load the config file and yo don't have to tinker with the settings. Encode and you're good to go, make sure your firmware is up to date.

Just mess around with the bit rate and fps and different converters. You will find something that works.
