OS X Step By Step Guide?

I'm a total Meizu n00b......trying desperately to get some video encoded for the M6.....

Is there anyone with the knowhow that can make a step by step guide to help encode video (.mp4 or .mpg or anything else that is possible) for the m6 (.avi).....

Even better would be a plug in for Visual Hub or something like that or even a stand alone app to re-encode the video....

I know that I'm not alone, especially judging from the posts all over the forum.

I'd really appreciate it, and I'd even be willing to contribute for your effort$

    thanks in advance!

    Jacob

    Visual hub ??
Virtual dub is a bit complex for beginners ( there is a plugin indeed), so you should start converting with "video converter", just like h3ll0 says.

I have been using MPEGSTREAMCLIP with my G4 iBook to convert music videos and movie clips downloaded from Frostwire successfully for the past several weeks.

I use the settings in the screenshot sfercmars posted in another conversion thread. They work very well.www.meizume.com/showthread.php?t=650

You can download MPEGSTREAMCLIP @ www.squared5.com (It's freeware.)

You also need to download the Xvid codec 0.5.1 @ www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/25128(It's freeware as well)

Unpack the Xvid files and put them in your: Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime

Open MPEGSTREAMCLIP, place the video file you want to convert onto the window, select "Export to AVI" under "File", then make adjustments to the setting according to sfericmars screenshot

I haven't tried these settings on a movie, yet. I will let you know the outcome in converting a movie soon.

I realize everyone has different hardware etc. I'm just relaying my experience. That said, I am using Handbrake (a beta software that is free on Versiontracker.com) to convert entire VOB movies for use in my M6. I've used an early model mac mini and a slower model ibook with identical results (except for processing speed) My mini (1.25 G4 with 1 GB ram) converts from VOB to meizu avi in about real-time. Faster machines should work better.

I've set the framerate at 15 fps and I've installed the latest Xvid plugin for Quicktime. I've sized the movie so it's largest dimension is 320. I've not experimented with cropping. Set the average bitrate at 384 (and click the button). Output file as an avi file using Xvid from the encoder pull down and you're good to go.

Playback is generally as smooth as you might expect from 15 fps and you can fast forward thru the video without crashing the player. Results with audio sync has been varied. A couple movies have been perfect. Others have minor problems.

Others give it a go and see if you find better settings. This discovery makes me feel this little guy is just what I was looking for !

Do a search on posts under my user name. I think I was about the first to figure out at least 1 way to convert under Mac OSX using MPEGSTREAMCLIP and I took a lot of time posting the specs.

The owners of Meizu obviously DO NOT VALUE MAC USERS or they would have made a sticky Mac conversion post.

China is blind drunk on pirated copies of Windows and don't seem to understand other operating systems exist. Until they show a little appreciation I will not help them sell their product by spending time & effort helping others use it with a Mac.

let's face the reality, the pc users around the world have :
    97% Windows
    2% Linux
    0.1% Mac
    0.9% Others

What would YOU support if you want to sell an mp3 player and having in mind that every software development costs your MONEY ?

And now, relax and inhale just a bit of this reality into your lungs, keep it there for 5 seconds and exhale.

When there is one thing I totally admire about Linux users, then it is the mere fact that they CARE about things and how problems are solved by themselves. A Linux user looks around what kind of open source software will be helpful, and then starts to actually spend time on the matter until his problem is solved.

You Mac users here just whine. And for what reason ? They're just too lazy to get anything done or even thought through.
The facts are : MacOSX is a superb operating system which combines the best of the Unix and Windows world. Nearly every good software is also available for Mac, and some of the Linux open source stuff even works seemlessly on OSX if you just compile the sources yourself.
And when it comes to video encoding, the Mac is an absolute powerhouse ! I know that because I work with people who are Mac nerds.
There is a version of MEncoder for Mac. If you're too lazy to read the the forum, read the manuals, try things out, and maybe finally ask very special question, then it would have been a wiser idea right in the beginning to choose an operating system which 97% of the world uses, and not one with 0.1%. Every hardware I know gets its minimum drivers developed for Windows. You can tell the world "hey I'm different" - but stop whining then.

    That's my 2 cents.

I havent gotten my little meizu to recognize a single video.
for some reason even after following these directions the xvid codec doesnt show up in MPEGStream as a choice..

    And as such.. Im stuck.
I installed it in the right spot.

    Any ideas guys?

    THanks
