I'm having some difficulty figuring out the step-by-step process for converting a movie (the freeware does not come with very accessible instructions). When I try to play the video on my Meizu, I get a 1-2 second black screen with an hour-glass icon. Then the screen quickly changes back to display. The video file cannot be opened to view. The video file is a 1.1 mb AVI movie with dimensions of 640x480 with a duration of 00'18 (the default is is quicktime). It's already AVI so should I somehow compress the AVI? If so, what are the steps.
I have installed on my Mac:
MPEGstreamclip, quickTime player, divx converter, divx player, real player, mpeg-4 codec, and VLC 8.6b.
Viewing on my computer:
The downloaded AVI displays as a side-by-side split screen interrupted with vertical distortion lines and blurred color. The actual image will not display properly unless it is opened with VLC 8.6b.
My technique (or lack thereof):
I open the avi movie with VLC 8.6b. See perfect image and hear perfect sound. I drag and drop my opened with VLC 8.6b file into the Meizu video folder. Turn off Meizu. Turn on Meizu. Locate and open video folder. Click video icon. No satisfaction.
I can get no response from the meizu site. I did get an earlier response suggesting I hold down the return key on the Meizu until it shuts off, but that only turned the Meizu off.
P.S. My Dane Elec firmware (its best to stick to the same firmware as manufacturer who shipped) is up to date at s2.002.3 (same as the chinese version just different #).

I am not familiar with video conversion on a Mac but the video needs to be 320x240, 18 - 20 fps, using a divx or xvid codec with mp3 audio, for a smoother video you should also rotate 90 degrees right to save system resources on the player.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThank you. However, my question is even more basic. I may be making a mistake in my process. I would like to know the steps between downloading a video and getting to the point where you can set thedimensions to "320x240, 18 - 20 fps, using a divx or xvid codec with mp3 audio. " Since this is my first time I'm convinced I'm missing a step. Thanks again.

if you use the encoder you get with the player all the settings will be set for you already
all you need to do is drag the file into the white part of the encoder screen and hit the start button
