Video better when seeking

Has anyone else noticed that the video image is significantly better when scrolling? Once it starts playing again, contrast drops sensibly. The dark regions get a murky, contrast-less appearance, and the highlights loose sparkle and contrast too. It's as if a (slightly blue) fog covers the video. It's not just a colour change... there is actual information lost. Shades of dark that were distinct while seeking now merge into one smeared featureless blob.

Just pick a scene with deep blacks, and watch them change once playback resumes after seeking.

It's a pity, because it shows that something in the decoding might be going worse than it needs to be. Or maybe just that keyframes have better contrast than the rest of the video... which I doubt.

Let's hope they'll try to fix this in the firmware, eh?

EDIT: I think I might be making it sound worse than it is... It's just interesting to see that it could be better!

Yes, in the meantime, we'll watch all our videos in fast motion

I guess it's just a way to save the battery playback time as well...

yeah i noticte this too ,this sucks because you can see how better the video image is with a little bit more contrast.i hope they fix it in future FW updates.lets hope

Yeah, good point there zervis. That could be a really good add-on for the next firmware!

As someone said already...video seeking is done through key frames - that´s why it looks better...
...but I agree, some more video options will be nice...
