VirtualDub-MPEG2
Use VirtualDub-MPEG2 to convert more fluent videos!VirtualDub-MPEG2 is the upgraded version of the original video conversion software - VirtualDub for miniPlayer. By rotating the picture, the video turns out much smoother on the M6 miniPlayer!
Install the codecs first if you do not already have them. Download and decompress, installation is self-explanatory.
Download K-Lite Codec Pack Version 2.79 Standard Released November 1th 2006: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...Codec_Pack.htm
Once you have the codecs, you need VirtualDub-MPEG2.
VirtualDub-MPEG2 download (see attachments)
You do not need to install it, just download it and decompress it, and it will be ok!
1. Double click "VirtualDub"and choose VIDEO>Filters
2. Press "ADD" and choose "resize" and press "ok"
3. Write in the size that Miniplayer need 320*240 and use black fill color.
4. If the size proportion of the original video isn't what you want, crop it to the size you want by pressing Cropping.
5. Continue to press "ADD" and choose "rotate" then press "ok"
6. Choose "Right by 90" then press "ok"
7. Press "ok"
8. Choose VIDEO>Frame Rate
9. Choose "Convert to fps" and write in 20 or 18
10.choose VIDEO>Compression
11. Choose "Xvid MPEG-4 Codec", and press "Configure"
12. Choose "Home Theatre NTSC" the other options maybe can't be played, or the effect isn't very good
13. Press "more" by side will pop up a dialog window, uncheck B-VOPs. (because Miniplayer can play B frame)then press "ok"
14. Write in 4 to the side of "Target quantizer" press "Target quantizer" change to Target bitrate (kbps)
15. Tress "Target quantizer" change to "Target bitrate" (kbps) and write 384 from the side, press "ok"and "ok" again
16. Choose AUDIO and then choose "Full processing mode"
17. Choose AUDIO>Compression
18. Choose "MPEG Layer-3" and choose one from right side that is less than 256kbit/s (128kbit/s, 48,000 Hz, Stereo is recommended)
19. Open the original video that you want to convert
20. Choose Save as AVI and write the name of the video to start converting
21. It is converting
22. All done! Put the finished file into your miniPlayer and it should be played fluently!
Note: You can also download a ready made Config file to spare you some time. (See attachment)Originally from: http://en.meizu.com/userforum/forum_...=1&FID=12&PR=3 (Improved language and readability, added newer codec versions, added faster download links)

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIt's also important to note that Virtual Dub MPEG2 can encode files in batch mode. Once you open a video file, and then click "save as .avi", there is a check box on the bottom of the save window that states "Don't run this job now; add it to job control so I can run it in batch mode." Once you have gotten all your files ready, click F4 or go to File>Job Control and run your videos in batch mode. (tip from tadad1)
Also, for those of you that find that the volume is too low, you can manually increase the volume of the video before encoding: Audio>Volume. (tip from tadad1)
Also, though all of these video converters work independently, often times, the best videos are a result of running multiple converters. Personally, I use Winmenc for a first pass, then use Virtual Dub MPEG2 for a second pass. This way, I minimize or defeat any audio sync problems. Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI had a similar problem after installing a newer version of K-Lite Codec Pack. One version that I know works for sure is v. 1.59, which can be found here.

hello everybody
thank you for your forum :-)
I have used this method to convert one video file.
The convertion was good, I could even play the converted with my mediaplyer or anything else.
So, I paste this file into my meizu...and then...nothing happened. Meizu m6 can't play the file, it just displays a black screen for 1 one second, then, stop.
I also try badak, after adding the video file to convert into badak, I clicked on "start" and nothing happen. Don't work in my pc.
what else could I try ?
thank you !
Edit : it works well with memcoder !! yeah !!Last edited by danone; 12-14-2006 at 12:54 AM. Reason: find a solution

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsWhy not use the Advanced Simple @ L3 profile ? The Home Theatre NTSC profile will not limit the bitrate properly.
With filters, for converting for example 16:9 .avi video with subtitles I use :
resize bicubic to 320 x 180 (no letterbox)
imageplacer to 320 x 240, shifting the image to the top of the frame (160 x 90 position)
subtitler (convert .srt file to .ssa with Subtitle Workshop, Arial 20pt, no border or shadow), advanced rasteriser on
and last rotate right 90deg
This gives very readable subs on the bottom, not overlapping the image.
For ripping DVDs I use DVDDecrypter to extract the VOBs, DVD2AVI to inverse telecine if needed, VFAPIConv to set up frameserving and then straight into VirtualDub MPEG2. Works every time.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsHi!
First, sorry for bump this threat, and for my English.
I'm trying to convert videos for my Meizu with VDub.
I read your guide, but the profile (Profile @ Level) Home Theathre NTSC doesn't appear. I've the following profiles:
Simple @ L0
Simple @ L1
Simple @ L2
Simple @ L3
Advanced Simple @ L0
Advanced Simple @ L1
Advanced Simple @ L2
Advanced Simple @ L3
Advanced Simple @ L4
Advanced Simple @ L5
Mobile
Portable
Home
Highdef
(unrestricted)
Why? I've Xvid 1.1.2, the lastest version.
I've a problems with audio sync (not miliseconds: seconds or minutes), and it encodes in 2 hours (for a 20 minutes video). I've a P4 3.2GHz, 2Gb RAM.
Why it goes too slow?
Thanks!

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsMany thanks for the heads up, i've had the exact same problem
Many thanks for the heads up, i've had the exact same problem earlier on.
Now am currently faced with this when i try to save as AVI file, anyone kind enough to render me some assistance?
Thanks in advance.

:edit:
I've just realised its probably not able to convert to that particular sampling rate or what its called.
Though the other options available pretty much work & converts.
Would it be fine if i use the 160kBit/s,44,100 Hz, Stereo option?
I suppose its the same, tried that anyway
