    Screen stuck on "Meizu" page

My M6 is stuck on the initial loading page (the black screen with the blue Meizu logo). I've tried resetting via power button + fast forward, and that does shut down the player, but doesn't do much else. I haven't fiddled with the firmware since I got the player a year ago. Earlier today, I was charging the player on a Mac and the Mac did not recognize the flash drive (I did have to do a manual unplug at one point the because I couldn't locate the device on the Mac -- and then later, a hard reset, because the screen froze on updating the library, but I'm not sure if that caused the problem).

    eta: a few more details
When I turn the player on, the screen gets stuck on the Meizu logo. I can't turn it off without using the hard reset. When I plugged the player, without turning it on, into the Mac I was using, the player displayed the "charging" page.

I'm out of the country at the moment and away from my primary computer (which is a PC), with limited internet access, so I'm a bit reluctant to download files on to other computers. Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially if the solution will allow me to keep my data.

Looks like you're going to lose your data, because a hard reset will erase it - if it doesn't help, your next step should be formatting the player ("<<" & "Power" button).
After formatting you'll have to copy the firmware files to the root of your player.

Both will only work while the player is turned off.

Only a reset can be done while the player is on.

Thanks for the suggestion, but when I tried it, the player just powered up ("Loading..." --> "Meizu" logo) and remained stuck. It looks like it can power on and off, but it doesn't do much beyond getting stuck on the logo screen.

I've tried the DFU tools out of desperation, but the final .exe file did not install, and when I tried again, the player is no longer recognized as a DFU device. When I plug it in while powered on, the device is not recognized and when I plug it in while powered off, it goes to the "charging" screen.

I'm tempted to try the last resort plan and just open the player, but I'm not sure if that would even work...

More suggestions would be much appreciated!

Are you sure you did the DFU procedure correctly? If you haven't already, visit the link in my signature and try that out. Hope this helps.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.
