Ok. I tried to load a new CD onto my M6SL today and tried to safely remove my player. After I did that the screen was frozen and I heard clicks when I touched the pad so I tried to hard reset. so I held down PLay and >>|. Now when I try to turn on the player it gets stuck on the "loading..." screen. I let it sit for a long time and it doesn't go anywhere.
I tried hard reset, and format. ANd now I'm reading that for the SL the formating and reseting are different for the SL that the SP. So the formating would be "play and >>|" held together.
I tried the SL dfu tools found in this thread
http://www.meizume.com/miniplayer-m6...tool-m6sl.html
but I cant hard reset it. I hit the buttons and it turns on then turns off then I here 2 clicks then it turns on again. And I've held the buttons for 3 minutes after it turns back on and I still don't get a purple screen.
I've had it for a long time so I can't return it. I just want it to work again.

Just to avoid confusion:
1. Reset :
If the player freezes you can reset it by pressing the button at the bottom of the touchpad (SP="Enter" / SL="Play")
until the player turns off.
2. Hard Reset (formatting RAM):
Under Power-off status, press and hold both 'FF (>>)' and 'Power' buttons for 20 seconds until the screen becomes yellow ("formatting, please wait"). The start-up screen appears after several seconds and the player has been reset to factory default settings.
3. Formatting:
Under Power-off status, press and hold both 'RW (<<)' and 'Power' buttons for 20 seconds until a purple screen appears ("low level formatting, please wait"), followed by a green screen ("no resource, please update resource again").
Now you can connect the player to your PC and copy the 'resource.bin' to the root of the player. Make sure to use the correct version - take both 'M6.EBN' ('M6SL.EBN' for SL players) and 'resource.bin', if you don't know which version has previously been installed.
You can use DFU - tools as a last resort if none of the above works. I never needed to use DFU - tools, so i can't give you any advice on that.Last edited by my zoo; 06-14-2009 at 08:54 AM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI went back and tried the format again.
the player is off. I press and hold the rw and play buttons together, screen flashes, and loading appears. I'm still holding the buttons, player turns off (loading disappears) player turns back on again, and it doesn't matter how long I keep holding the buttons now cause nothing happens after it comes on the second time.
its almost like hitting FF or RW isn't registering. and it thinks I'm just hitting play.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIs it totally busted? I mean I didn't think it would be since the loading screen still comes up. even thought it freezes on the same screen... It just seems like the RW and FF buttons don't register when I push them to do a format or hard reset.
any ideas
