Hi guys, I really need some observation.
I remember once my friend used m6 to record a whole orchestra performance( I know it's illegal). The recording replays in superb clarity.
Then I got my m6, once I recorded in a quietly moving bus, then the recording is too muddy than renders it unaudible. Or the recording seems too sensitive that results in too many high pitch shriek.
Is this normal for all m6 users? Or m6 can only record well in a slow, ambient environment?
How about m3 users, is that the same? Might consider changing to m3 if it's better.
I once used Sansa express before, and the recording quality for me is sufficient and Practical.
Thanks a lot. Really dont want to part with this gorgeous player.Last edited by ShaneNg; 06-09-2009 at 05:09 PM. Reason: Improper grammar.

I'm not sure, I personally don't use the mic very often, but I have never used it on a shaky bus. It is quite a bit sensitive, so you'll need to put it on a steady surface to record well. Moving the player around usually causes unwanted noise as well, so that is probably your problem.

I get that noise too, although when I record, I always get this loud and obnoxious buzzing, no matter what quality I use.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsHuh, so that's a common problem...
Pardon me but this practically renders the recording function impractical.
Then I'll have to start the player search again, but m3 is probably the same too right?

I have successfully recorded some live music sessions in a small room. I remember I had to switch some mic-amplify option off to get the best results. Unfortunately I don't have my M6(SP though) here with me, so I can't check where that feature is placed in the menu. All I can say is that my M6SP with old firmware makes alright records from "normal" room volume. I guess the concert you've been trying to record was too loud. There's not much you can do about it then. Semi-Professional live-recorders cost $200 or more for a reason.

For your purposes, like BobbyQ suggested, you probably need a mic like this:
Shure - Microphones - SM27 Multi-Purpose Condenser Microphone
It's advertised to record a wide variety of frequencies and clearly, but you might want to try before buying since you'd be plunking down a hell lot of cash for a microphone.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsHey, thanks for the passionate replies.
No, I'm not using it to record live music, just need to record some notes, or some melodies.
I used Sansa Express before and it's more than sufficient for the purpose.
Thanks.
Ps: Is m3 the same?

Probably, although I can't say for sure. It's probably the same type of mic, so you'll most likely get similar results.
