    No resource error very frequent

    Hi!
My M6SL has been behaving kind of annoying lately. Almost every single day the No Resource error appears and I have to transfer my music all over again...

When I first got the player the error could appear maybe once a month or so, and that was fine. But when it's happening 5-6 times a week it feels a bit ridiculous.

I've tried several firmwares but they all seem to have some kind of problem, so I always end up using 2004.5 (which has the least amount of problems).

Do all M6s have this problem? Is there a solution available?
    Greetings, xelli

Make sure you are using M6SL firmware, and not M6SP or M6TP firmware, otherwise it shouldn't be having a no resource issue for no reason.

Hi and welcome to the forums. Are you sure you safely eject your player when you unplug it? Also no one has had the No Resource problem without trying to update the firmware or use DFU Tools. The No Resource should not pop up at all during normal usage. Can you get a replacement for it?

The "no resource" screen appears when the player was formatted - maybe you pressed both On/Off and |<< button by accident while the player was turned off?

Try to find a suitable hard case for transporting the player and the problem should be solved.

If it happens without any reason it might be a defective hardware.

    Thanks for the quick replies!

Yes, I'm very certain that I'm using SL firmware. Getting a replacement will probably be difficult since the player was imported from China (I live in Sweden).

Actually, pressing the |<< button by accident does seem kind of likely. Is it possible to format the player even when the hold-switch is switched on?

No, the player cannot be formatted while the hold is on. Only when you turn it on normally and hold down the << button does it format.

I just tried holding |<< while booting with hold locked. At first it said "Hold locked, shutting down". I kept holding down |<< and the play button, the player rebooted and guess what, it formatted

With the hold switch still on? Hum...That's odd, maybe you have a defective player, this does not happen with my SP player, I don't own an SL but they should be relatively similar, just thinner and a new power switch. Maybe you can get a crystal case for it so that it is harder to accidentally press the << button.

Same problem here: Formatting in spite of key-lock

It is as reported by xelli, my SL had the same problem today and I was just able to verify that it low-level-formats when "on" and |<< are pressed, even though the key-lock is active.

Seems consistent to me, as it starts up first and then shuts down again, when the lock is active and the player is just powered on, so any action at boot time could be executed first.

I will have to stop carrying it around in my pants, I think...
