M6 SL not detected by Windows

I'm not sure what's wrong with my player. I can use it to play songs, charge the battery,turn off and on but windows cannot detect the player when i plugged to USB.

It shows as unknown device in the device manager. Under the properties it shows no driver installed. Thus i cannot copy files to the pc before doing anything.

I've read the FAQ and done the search but i'm not sure where i'm at. For instance under mbarry's [B]Guide: Fixing your "Bricked" Player, which step is for me?

Just follow the instructions for a soft reset in the guide, and your player should be fine.

your players not bricked, use control panel to remove the device. when you turn the player on you can have windows try to install, reinstall. after that if it doesn't work you can try to use another usb port or another cable. also check to see how your player is set msc is drag and drop, mtp uses a media player; like wmp11 to sync either way the player is set it should be found by the os.
i had a problem a few months ago where it was using the wrong driver (a different player, not the m6) you did say it used no driver so that's probally not it.
