Hi,
I was just about to update my M6, but accidentaly I update with TP instead of SP. The update failed and all I could see on my M6 was just a white screen.
After looking on the forum I found DFU Tools. I've tried to repair my M6, but when I click on 'download' with DFU I first get the following message: Failed to communicate with the DFU Device. When I click 'OK' on the errormessage I can click 'download again'. After that one I get the following error message: ERROR: failed to get device status. After clicking 'OK' I can't click the download-button again and also the field of the device is empty.
I've done everything like the FAQ describes, including holding power and M. I'm using Windows Vista Business and tried to fix my M6 with firmware 1.009 SP. I already tried formatting the device as well as a hard reset.
Searching on this forum didn't help me out of this issue.
Anyone who can help me? Thanks in advance!
Greetings,

Hi Welcome to the forums! Are you sure you firmly held down the M and Power buttons at the same time and NEVER let go of them throught the process of DFU Tools? If not, try again. If you did hold the two bttons down throughout the process, try just pressing the download button again and again. Last time that I used DFU Tools, I had to push the download button 29 times before it worked.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsSeems like DFU is not completely Vista capable. When i try XP, DFU is working as it should. However, when I have to disconnect the M6 and put the player on, the screen just flashes once and then the screen is black again. After a soft reset i can run DFU again, but that isn't helping.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThanks for trying to help me, but it didn't work. It's the same all the time. Even when I opened the player and disconnect the ribbon cables for 5 minutes.
Seems like it's broken forever... Too bad, because I liked the player. Next player will be the iAudio 7.

Are you sure you are holding the M and Power buttons throught the process? not just at the beginning?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI had the exact same problem, leaving player off or keeping everything pressed, etc... doesn't change a thing.
Vista can't communicate, it always recognizes the DFU correctly, but that's it.
I tried it on WinXP and everything went through flawlessly, so the point is that the DFU tools don't work with Vista!
