Help! My player died from FW V2.000.1
This is a general call for help, after the problem stumped those in the original forum.
After trying to upgrade my Meizu M6 (SP) from the latest original firmware to version 2.000.1, it reformatted and promptly died. The screen does not power up, no buttons respond, no sound emmenates from the 1/8" jack, and my Windows XP SP2 system will not recognize it as a USB device.
Yes, I have tried to reset it, hard reset it, wipe it to factory presets, and generally everything in the FAQ.
Yes, I have tried the DFU software tool. Yes, it was the SP version of DFU. It didn't do anything but run.
Yes, I have tried the "M + Play" trick while using DFU.
The only indication I have that the player is even powered is that after I hold the <--- button for about 30 seconds, the press Play, the screen flashes white for a split-second. The same thing happens when I hold down <--- and plug in the USB cable.
I have emailed the folks at en.meizu.com, but have not heard back from them yet. This is particularly disheartening since I just received my player 5 days ago from an eBay seller, and cannot return it.
In the event that I cannot be helped, and thus have a very shiny brick, I would encourage everyone to stick to stable firmware if possible. V2.000.1 has obviously been the kiss of death for my new favorite toy.

hi aggie,
i'm not trying to be sarcastic or condescending, ok. but it sounds to me like maybe your miniplayer is low on batteries. maybe you could try to recharge it for a couple of hours and then try everything again? just a thought.

I hadn't thought of that, Glacier. I don't think it was low on batteries, but I'll charge it for a while and see what happens. Thanks for the fresh perspective!

Sorry, but I double-checked the FW. If it was wrong, then Error's SP link was switched (which I doubt, given that others have had success). And I'm in the US, so I wouldn't know about any other versions.

Can you be more specific, Job? What buttons did you press to make the PC recognize it?

try pressing the power(play)button and the M button at the same time and KEEP THEM PRESSED. when the screen turns on, plug in the USb cable
keep the power and M button pressed still
while still having the power and M button pressed the comp will recognize the player
now start up the DFU tools.. and... keep the power and M button pressed still
the DFU will recognize the player and when you click download it will install the firmware you placed in its install folder(go for 1.010, not 2.0 as its not stabile)
keep the power and M button pressed throughout this whole process until the DFU tool is done and the button "close"lights up
then you may finally release the power and M button and restart the player and it should work

After 5 minutes of holding M and Play, the screen doesn't even blink. Thanks for trying, though.
If I can't find a solution by Wednesday, I'm gonna have to ship it back to China. Damn it.

I am starting to think Glacier might be right concerning your player.
even with the wrong or disfunctional firmware the player should still at least blink or show a white or green screen
Try leaving the player connected to the PC for a few hours.
Maybe it will pop on when it fully charged again.
Dont send your player back yet..
I think so far pretty much all software related problems have been fixed
I am confindent we can fix this one too...

hi aggie, are you still having problems? i've actually been able to use the v2.000.1 firmware now and i haven't encountered any problems so far.
i'm sure it's terribly frustrating but hang in there. and i know you've already tried everything suggested but it wouldn't hurt to try it all again. but to eliminate one cause, i would suggest that you charge your player for a few hours before trying everything again.
once/if you get it working, i assure you that you won't regret spending all that hard work on it. good luck!
p.s. once you get it running, reward yourself by using ndee or pouet's skins for v2.000.1. they can be found in the Firmware are of the forums.

I'm having the same problem with my M6, if I press the power key it will briefly flash but pressing M + Power does nothing. I have tried <</>> + Power, Enter + Power and just power itself.
I'm guessing I need to put on another copy of the firmware and skin, as when it boots there is a green flash with the resource bin text on it as per usual where the Meizu logo on boot should be.
When I try plugging the Meizu into my computer it doesn't actually do anything but look like it's sitting there. There is a gray bar and nothing else. Can you tell me the steps that I should've taken from the beginning of when this problem happened so I can go over them?
I was running the latest FW, V2.001.1 for around 3 days perhaps and it happened only after someone managed to get into a menu for calibrating the touchpad, something which I didn't actually know was on the player.
If not, are there detailed instructions for DFU tools?
Edit: Now the player isn't even turning on, now it will just flash white when I press the play button. Will DFU fix this?
