I'm having a similar problem, however, I am unable to shut down the player. I've held the |<< left button for almost a minute, the >>| right button for just as long, as well as the M button and the >|| button.
It's stuck at the "Connected to USB" screen. It shows the USB logo, and a full battery charge, even though it has been on for ~18 hours. When I connect it to a PC, the battery logo pulses and fills, indicating a charge, however the OS does not detect it (not even in Linux's dmesg).
The unit clicks when I touch any buttons, just like it would if it was operating normally.
This is the second time it's happened. I've already let it die once, and that took a day.
Any ideas? If reflashing the firmware doesn't do it, what should I do?
