Ok, my player was working fine a week ago. No problems since I bought it almost a year ago, M6 SP, by the way.
A few days ago I ripped a new cd as flac files and loaded them on to the player and went through the whole music library update, which a completely full play only took about 3 minutes total, not bad at all, not as bad as some people I've read on here who have 15 minute waits. And the player started updating fine and then it got to the newly added flac files and it paused. Wouldn't get past them and they were the last files to be updated.
So I do a soft shutdown and turn it back on and now I get stuck in an endless turn on, gets stuck updating, turn off, turn back on, stuck updating loop So I come to these boards and find you can bypass the update and I try the various methods and the only method that worked for me was to continuously hit the "M" button until it goes into the main menu, which eventually happened.
When I got to the main menu, it stated I had no music files, but I went to the file browser and there they are and when plugging in the USB cord, windows sees the files as being on the player, as well.
So, today, I have a player that:
- has the latest firmware,
- a player that takes forever at the loading screen but eventually gets to the menu, but will never recognize files
- is in another language and the method to fix it in the FAQ section doesn't work
- it pauses at the shutdown
- soft reset and hard resets and formats as well do not work as it pauses at the shutdown screen
- has a completely empty player, but windows still shows that 800 megs of something are taking up space on it.
I'm really at wits end here. I went from having an amazing player for almost a year to this and only because I added FLAC files to it, a supported format!
