Please help, my M6 SP is grumpy and I'm FAQ'd out!
Greetings
I cannot get my M6 to format itself or respond properly when I plug it in. There is a fat32 filesystem there (I can see it with fdisk -l on Linux), but it doesn't have any of MUSIC, VIDEO and the other directories I expect. Here's what I've tried:
* Add new firmware: if I click on the drive in Windows Explorer so I can drop the firmware image files there, I am prompted to format the device. Doing so doesn't really accomplish anything. If I place the file there from Linux, nothing happens.
* Hard reset (should clear everything, according to the FAQ): no change. The display shows 0/0 music, no directories
* Format (according to the FAQ): no change, 0/0 music, no directories
* Finally I tried the DFU tool instructions from the FAQ. While the machine is on, I hold down 'M' and the power button, then plug in the USB. Nothing happens. I do not get prompted to install device drivers, etc. So I cannot proceed with the instructions, afaict.
Can someone help me out here? I'd really like some music again. I'm afraid I'm just missing some simple step...
Thanks!
