Menus / Power off Freezing issue?

I purchased a M6 SL in Dec. 07. I've had random issues ever since. These issues are freezing of menu's (it doesn't always happen).

For example, sometimes when I press the M to go into the menu (or pause, or power, etc.), it doesn't, so I press it again (or something else), nothing, I try pause and then maybe hold down the power. Nothing.

Then without warning or specific amount of time ALL of the above mentioned items happen, it will QUICKLY run through all of the buttons I pressed (including the final power off).

This happens when listening to mucic and watching video's.

I updated my firmware when I purchased it in mid Dec.

Try recalibrating your touchpad? (I -think- you hold down the M button for about three seconds)

Sorry I can't help more, have never encountered this issue before.

Well, now that's interesting... Sounds like something uses the cpu so much it can't handle input... I think you should try re-installing the firmware and the calibration thing if you have an SP. If neither help, I only can think of a mussed up player.

OK, further testing exposes a few things.

I was talking with my daughter about the problem, because she is constantly hijacking my m6. She says "It always happens with this song."

The way she plays the songs is via an artist playlist that I created with Media Monkey. I tested a few times and see that it mostly only happens with playlists (and once in a while movies).

I can repeat with a certain song via playlist. If I don't use the playlist "the" song doesn't have the issue.

Maybe I should come up with a new way to make playlists?

p.s. Updated to the latest firmware tonight and it still happens

but if i create a playlist within the meizu, it doesn't seem to happen. guess it could be the number of items in the list. i'll attempt that. and maybe i'll look at creating my own playlist instead of media monkey.

yes it is the number of items in the playlist. The freeze time is directly proportional to the number of songs in a playlist. I personally dont use playlist and if i do, its no more than 20 songs.

Whenever you select a playlist to play, it will load up all the info about each of the songs at that point (with no graphical indicator......). It's like a media library update. You do have to live with that. It'll stop for as long as it loads all items in the playlist, so yes, it does take quite some time with big playlists. Do look at the special functions topic on this forum, you will find interesting little tricks of the player you can use (for example pressing play on an artist or album loads the whole artist/album)
