Charge Meizu M6 SP with 300mA charger?

    hi everybody. Second post :D

I have a BenQ USB charger (it takes european voltages and US voltages, is this a switching power supply?). It's max output is 300mA with 5 volts, and people here have said that the minumum charger current needs to be 400mA, and any lower capacity charger would cause the charger to overheat and die.

but, meizu has this interesting charger that runs of AA;s, and its max is 300mA, so am I safe to use my existing charger?

Don't use that charger. Charging times will be longer than by USB, and the charger may be damaged over time. As for that AA batteries based charger, AA cells can deliver up to 2600mAh. Even after converting the voltage to 5V there will be more than 500mA current available, Meizu gave that 300mA recommendation to prevent overheating of the charger.

On the back of your M6 it says "Rated 5V, 400mA max", and that about says it all. I'd explain you what's up with that "max" too, but i'm tired, i'm going to sleep. Maybe i'll tell you tomorrow. But once again, do yourself a favor and use that charger for the devices it is intended for.
