My M3 is in its protective film shipping wrapper

I didn't like the silicone case - too loose, stretches too much for me. Adhesive velcro button (see below) won't stick. Case looks ugly (to me).

I didn't like the crystal case - too thick, hard to press/slide controls.

So I left my M3 in its transparent protective film shipping wrapper. It shows off the M3. I stuck an adhesive velcro button on the back to affix it to my stationary bicycle for exercise. I cut off the little tab meant to remove the shipping wrapper.

About the only negative is the trickle of dust particles entering the open corners. It's taken about 1/2 year to become noticable. That's merely cosmetic.

What are your experiences with cases?

The protective plastic is actually recommended to stay on your player to protect it. Kind of like the ones you can buy with iPods except they come free with your M3.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.

Players: Meizu M6 SP 4GB, iPod Touch 4G
Headphones: SoundMAGIC PL-50s, Auvio In-Ear Armatures, Bose QC-15s.
Current Audio Congifuration: X-Fi Elite Pro w/LM4562 Mod -> Mission MS-50 + Boston Acoustics Subwoofer

I accidently took off the whole film because I tried to take off the tag and it didn't come off well and left a nasty residue on top of where the screen is. I wasn't too happy. That tab shouldn't be there. Now I'm looking for alternatives. It would be good if Meizu sold the protective films individually.

Meizu's intended use of protective plastic

Maybe so by posters at Meizume. I suspect Meizu's intention was for it to be a shipping wrapper to be discarded in the hands of the end user. I'd think Meizu would offer aftermarket replacements otherwise.
