Repair your stuttering songs easily!

There's a nice little program called Tidy mp3. You can download it from it's homepage or from the link at the bottom of this post. I have made a few tests so far, and it seems this fixes the stuttering issue without reencoding mp3 files, and also it's very fast! It takes like 10-20 seconds to fix an entire album. Just make sure you use the /p switch to preserve id3tags!

I want to ask you to fix your stuttering songs with this tool and let me know if it helped or not! I really hope it will!

If you have questions try reading the readme.txt first!

also i found the link here posted by hwcnyc originally!

GREEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT

I'll describe what I did: I put all my bad mp3s into a new folder (H:\new) and also copied the tidymp3.exe in this folder.
Then I opened a command box (Start - RUN - "CMD" (without the "") - Enter
I typed "cd H:\new" (without the "") and pressed Enter
I typed "tidy mp3 *.mp3 /p" ("without the "") and pressed Enter again. It took me about 1 second for every file and now there is no stuttering at the end anymore!
YEAAAAAAAAAAH-HA

I can't wait to try it (at work right now)! If the program indeed works for everyone, I nominate nice2know_u as "man of the year" in this forum :D

If this really helps with all kind of stuttering it is indeed a great find ! Should be added to the FAQ section.
Here is a little batch that provides drag+drop of mp3s or a folder (with subfolders) with the /P switch of tidymp3 :
[edit 19.12.2007 : subfolders work now]

looks like the program doesn't work for most (if not all) of my stuttering songs. kinda frustrating

anyway, thanks for the effort.

I've only tried it on one album "Dark Side of the Moon" and although it reduced the stutter between tracks down to a single hiccup it also stripped out cover art which I use for other devices

yeah, too bad because album art is in the id3v2 which the program erases to fix the song.

as we have found out before, the Miniplayer does not like album art in its mp3 tags.

Well, I ran the tidy program on the copies of tracks/folders residing on the player itself while it was plugged in to the computer. I gave up messing with album art a long time ago as it's not that important to me - the stuttering problem is important. Seems to have worked on every album I have with gapless content so far. There's still that short gap between tracks, but no more more more more wierd endings of the first song.

Not only Miniplayer dislike cover art... Music Card too... then we better talk of Meizu players.

meizu can't even display album art from the id3tag... just copy a jpg file with the albumname from the id3tag to the directory of each album.

the problem is present in all players, but it depends on the music files you are listening. songs encoded badly or have been damaged are stuttering at the last few seconds. you'll notice it in the near future.
