    upgrading to play APE

Read somewhere that the latest miniplayer, the M6 'SL' model has a new chip and APE is now a supported audio codec.

Currently, I have over 500 CDs on hard drives, ripped in FLAC and APE formats for audio streaming into a hi-fi system.
Don't really want to convert them to MP3 cos it will take a lot of time, mess up tagging and reduce quality.

Could someone please advice me if it is possible to upgrade a pre SL model to support APE? If so, how?

    Many thanks

You mean a regular M6? Just use the latest firmware to enable APE, no CUE is supported yet though.
Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

btw, if anyone knows a tool that can convert APE directly into FLAC, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for your superfast reply

Yes the only model that is currently sold in the UK is the old one. Heard on the grapewine that cos M6 did not sell well here, Dane Elec, the UK distributor, may not import the new SL model

There are seller from China at eBay at very low prices, but that could be problematic.

When you say CUE is not supported does it mean that the whole CD will show up as one file, rather than separate tracks with track names and so on?

I have'nt tried it but popular rippers such as CDex and EAC will do that.

No CUE support means that the tag information won't show, each file will still be separate.
