M6 SL doesn't play APE

Help!

I bought a Meizu M6 SL and can't get it to play APE files. It just doesn't play or the player freezes. I tried upgrading to the latest firmware (2.004.4) as well as encoding my own APE files, but it's still the same.

Are there some extra steps I need to get it to play? Everything else (MP3, WMA, FLAC, video) seems to be working OK. I know I can convert my APE files to FLAC but I would like it to play without converting since it is supposed to be supported by this player.

i have never encoded anything with APE, but i think the highest bitrate or setting is not supported just the lower ones...

I tried re-encoding it using the Normal setting and it works now. It doesn't display the proper artist/album though. Oh well.

digitz... APE is supported in Normal mode. Being a lossless format there is no problem in converting them with Monkey's Audio utility from actual mode to Normal. There won't be reduction in quality.

But if the player freezes... you have to remove cover art embedded with mp3tag.

Let us know what happens.

BTW... APE won't look nice in your library... it will appear as unknown artist and album. It has not been implemented yet managing of APE tags.

Thanks Daremos. Luckily I don't have too many albums in APE format.
Hopefully Meizu improves APE support in the next firmware.

I believe Meizu currently support APE files encoded with Monkey's Audio 3.97-3.99 codec. If you use higher version codec, for example, the latest 4.01, Meizu won't play it.

BINGO!
This had been confirmed by the official forum admin of MEIZU.COM several weeks ago.Maybe this problem can be solved in the next released frimware.
My APEs are all downloaded by BT.My M6sl plays them well.
