[Follow Me]How To:Use DFU tools

http://ftp.meizu.cn/angelo/DFUTools.rar
This tool is for M6 or M6sl. I don't know if it works with M3.
many guys failed when they tried to rescue the player,it is not because the player is dead.it is because they didn't use DFU correctly.
But you should make sure the M6 is healthy in "hardware",if you crashed it or something,DFU will help nothing.
If the player dead just because upgrade or degrade fail or something.DFU can fix all,I am sure.
Let's GO!
STEP:
1.Please prepare a correct firmware.
2.Make sure the 'hold' key on M6 is unlocked.
3.copy 'M6.EBN' or '
M6sl.EBN' to the folder.
Tips:If it is a M6sl,edit the 'secdfu.ini'
→→ edit 'M6.EBN' to 'M6sl.EBN'
4.run 'Secdfu.exe'.The 'download' button should be grey.
Tips:Make sure the M6 is detached wth PC now.
5.Reset the M6→→Press the 'Power\Play' button for 15 seconds.
Tips:Whether the screen displays nothing or not, just press the button.
6.After reset ,hold the 'power' button then press button 'M' and connect M6 to PC.Windows will detect your player as a DFU device.
Tips:Make sure you are holding both buttons firmly.
7.If detected,Congratulations;If not,repeat 4~6.

→→Now if it's a M6sl,you can detach it and press
'power'+'|<<'(backward) for 15 seconds to format the player. Then the PC will detect the M6sl normally.
Because the DFU driver doesn't support M6sl,so we cannot go on.(In my test, the driver doesn't work with M6sl,I think it's due to the new processor.)

8.Update the driver.Choose "Install from a list or specific location", then choose "Search for best drivers in these locations" and "Include this location in the search" and browse to the DFU Folder.
Then the 'download' button should be available.
9.Make sure you keep both
'M' and 'power' button pressed (MUST!) and then press 'download'.
10.disconnect from PC→→reset→→reconnect to PC→→copy correct resource.bin→→Upgrade.

DONE!

TIPS:If step7 is done but cannot proceed, try to format the player by pressing 'power'+'|<<' as mentioned above.

Hello Da Vinci

My SL id "dead" after upgrading with firmware "M6SL_2.004.4_english.rar"

You said "→→Now if it's a M6sl,you can detach it and press 'power'+'|<<'(backward) for 15 seconds to format the player. Then the PC will detect the M6sl normally.
after the Meizu is connected to the computer.

After this manipulation ( 20 sec ) the PC don't detect the Meizu ( a sound "tudut" of deconnexion ? )

Can you help me,

Thanks for your topic ! ( I'm french, my english is too bad ! )

Hi Creatoom and everyone else. I hope these directions are a bit more easier to follow. Search DFU Tools on the forum and download it. Be very careful never to let go of the M and Power button until you unplug your player. Hold Down The M and Power Buttons (DO NOT Let Go). Then plug your player in. It should be recognized as a DFU Device. If you have Vista, just open it up as a drive and put the M6.EBN and Resource.BIN files into the DFU Device. Make absolutly sure that it is the S.xxx.x version of firmware (If your player is the SP version, if not, make sure to use the T.xxx.x firmware), not the T.xxx.x version. Get one from Meizu's website (www.Meizu.en). If you have XP or lower, you have to use DFU Tools. Remember to Never Let Go of the M and Power button (I don't know how many poeple that have done this and ruined their players while running DFU). Make sure you have the M6.EBN file in the root DFU folder. Then open DFU tools. You then press Download and wait. That should have worked. Now un-plug the player and re-plug it. Open it up and drag the resource.bin of the same version firmware, i.e. if you used the S2.003.2 M6.EBN you have to use the S2.003.2 resource. Un-plug it and turn it on. If you are stuck at DFU, try it again. It took me 29 tries with DFU Tools before I fixed my player. I really hope this fixes it. If not, you could send it back to where you bought it for a refund or a replacement. I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to PM me.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.

Players: Meizu M6 SP 4GB, iPod Touch 4G
Headphones: SoundMAGIC PL-50s, Auvio In-Ear Armatures, Bose QC-15s.
Current Audio Congifuration: X-Fi Elite Pro w/LM4562 Mod -> Mission MS-50 + Boston Acoustics Subwoofer

You could always go to the DFU Page in the forum...

Hi,Creatoom,mine is SL version too.
my m6sl can be detected as a 'DFU device'.After step 6.
If not detected, repeat the step 5 to 7.
Now if detected, press both keys and just format.
when formatting, there will be tips on the screen.if nothing shows, the format is not on the progress.

Hello mbarry !

My problem :http://creatoom.free.fr/Meizu/Meizu%20SL%20dfutools.jpg

I have Windows XP....I press "M + Play"...I connect USB....Windows detect my player as a DFU device...
When I tried instal drivers ( 8.Update the driver.Choose "Install from a list or specific location", then choose "Search for best drivers in these locations" and "Include this location in the search" and browse to the DFU Folder....)

Windows don't find drivers, and the buttom "download" of DFUtools has been Grey.

And the reboot ( 'power'+'|<<' ) have no effect.

Should I try several times to connected my PLayer ?

Tonight, I will try to connect my player on Windows Vista !

i don't think Vista would solve the problem. The driver doesn't work in XP is not the problem of your m6sl or OS,it is because the original driver is for M6 but not m6sl,so there is compatibility problem with M6sl.The driver doesn't recognise my m6sl too.

If you can modify the driver, you can try to modify the secdfu.inf.But it is out of my ability.

But the real problem is the XP detected your M6sl as DFU tools but you couldn't low format your M6sl.i think you should detach it and press both keys longer when your m6sl is detected as a DFU tool.

Yes, if you have Vista it should be very simple, just drag and drop. Oh Make sure you are holding the M and Power button the WHOLE time. For more detailed instructions, refer to my post above.
