I just, accidently, drained all of the power from my M6, as I hadn't charged it in about a week. So I just plugged it straight into the computer when I got home and left it there for a few hours. The next day when I turned it on, it said that there were no music files on it but all of the other video, recordings etc were still there. Even the "about" section still said that my files were still on there as the amount of memory free had not changed.
So I went into the browser and tried to look for my music but it came up with no music files. Then I looked in another section and it was full of a bunch of folders written in traditional Chinese characters with the same files in them copied about a hundred times; file "7g" (and a small square beside the g, similar to the chinese character for mouth) and file "00000000..". And when I plug it into Windows Media Player (what I use to sync it with) the files also don't register.
When I plug it into the computer, everything looks ok; the music files are still there and still play on WMP. But there is another folder called "7" which I am unable to open and files "7g" and "00000000.." are still there but this time there are only one of each. And they are 2.75gb each, which must be some kind of error because I only have a 4gb m6.
What's wrong with my M6?

Try a reset by pressing and holding the >> button as you turn on the player. This will delete all files and reset all settings to default so backup any files you want to keep.
If that fails try a low-level format by pressing and holding the << button while you start your player, this will format the player deleting all files as well as the resources so you will have to connect your player and copy the resource.bin file that matches your firmware version to your player and then restart. Should be ok after this.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsYeah, I was thinking about doing a hard reset but I didn't want to delete all of my music files. Is there anyway to fix it without doing a hard reset?

No I think it will need a format to remove all the corrupted files. If the music files are ok you can at least back them up before formating.
