Cover art on a M6. Another way!
I discovered this by accident. It seems to work so far, and I wanted to share this. This works in WMP11 and on the latest M6 firmware. YMMV, of course and there are certain caveats.
First, set your M6 on MTP mode (from the default MSC). Fire up WMP and connect the M6. WMP will see it, blah blah. Shuffle music (or setup a random autoplaylist) into the device. Disconnect. WMP will create an ALBUMS folder in ROOT and copy the art there (it'll create two files). When you check out your music the art will be there!
Caveats:
I prefer MSC mode over MTP. Although WMP seems to like MTP mode more, some of the functionality does not work on the M6. For instance, WMP will attempt to copy Playlists over to the M6 in .pla format. Which do not work. MTP mode also restricts the way you interact with your device.
WMP tag database is heavily dependent on Microsoft which for some albums acts weird. It brings weird covers or no covers at all. It's gotten better, but if you're willing to put up with it you should be fine.
I'll keep trying and I'll update this post over the next couple of days.
