There is a known bug of Meizu players which is to allow up to 2048 songs in lists and maybe the same amount is the limit of files controlled by function "Update Library Music".

Check this please... I imagine that songs over that limit mess the whole sort.

Ohhhhhhhhh, very interesting. I just confirmed that my library contains 3377 songs (confirmed in the spreadsheet I posted above). If there is indeed a song # limit, I have probably exceeded it. It's possible that the problem I had with genre's not working was indirectly caused by exceeding a limit of songs.

Hopefully this is a bug that is fixed in a future firmware release. (Does anyone know if Meizu is aware of this bug?).

A simple test to see if this is the problem will be for me to use genres, but delete my overall # of songs to under 2048. I'll try that when I get a chance.

Ok, thanks. That was most definitely the problem, I just found all of the other threads documenting the 2048 song limit issue. Now I'm just hoping/praying that Meizu gets their act together to fix this problem in a future firmware release. It's certainly a big limitation on the 8 gb unit.
