Thanked 0 Times in 0 Poststhanks for the link, wanted to open it to help with the drying process, plus I needed to clean the inner screen due to the water linking in.
it opened and everything looked dry, closed it up, but it still won't turn on? I don't really want to retire my M6, but I might have to...

Thanked 1,049 Times in 391 Postsi'm sorry, but... YOU WASHED IT?! how insane is that? what did you expect? get a hairdrier or wait a few days before it dries out maybe you'll be lucky and it will work again...

Any electronic device should be fine after water contact, but usually has to be left opened for a week in the sun, or dried with a hairdryer. After using the hairdryer and it seems to be dry, still leave it for 2-3 days in the sun. If you turned it on, that might have short circuited something, so it might not work, but chances are it will still work. Just open it and let it dry out for a week. Oh, by the way, how did it get washed?

You will be very lucky if it recovers. Any electronic device that uses small pin spacing chips (like TSOP and uBGA packages) are unlikely to recover a wash unless the devices is dried out very quickly as corrosion soon sets in. The result of corrosion is that short circuits develop due to the small pin spacing (typically 0.5mm) . As the 'shorts' are either almost invisible or hidden under the devices the chance of recovery is low.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsWell... it seems like Boggle was right, my player seems pretty much dead

It flashes on like its about to load, except nothing happens. My 30 day warranty from newegg.com coincidently expired less than a week ago as well...( I never thought I needed an extended warranty) chances are that Dane-Elec aren't going to honor my exchange request either. BTW Thanks guys for the links and support, really appreciate it.
On a side note if I were to pick up another player in the future would you still recommend the M3/M6, especially with hd players such as the zune for the same price point of $100

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI worked for a cellphone-repaircenter, so i know that PCB´s that came into contact with water are mostly dead after a while or you´ll get frequent hangups or switchoffs.
A chance of saving it, might be to open it an clean the circuit-board with alcohol or isopropanol.
good luck!

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsOops... too late.
Well, performing the mentioned tasks 'post mortem' might be a small chance of recovering it.
You may even lay the board in a dish filled with alcohol or isopropanol for a night and hope for the best.
If you´ll have to send it back, try to really clean up every visible trace of water/salt/corrosion, or they´ll never repair/swap it.
good luck again!
