Some questions before buying
Hi all,
that's my first post on MeizuMe, and I've registered here coz I'm going to get a M6, so I've got some questions about the player.
1. What's the most recent firmware at the moment?
2. Is the player solid and durable? I mean, can i put all my MP3s on it without getting worried that someday it will show up a blank screen/diplay nasty errors/self-destruct and everything will be gone?
3. What about the casing? That's the biggest problem in my current player, AVACS Racer, the ">>|" and volume minus buttons sometimes get stuck and the only way to get them back to work is to unscrew the case (goodbye, warranty) and use something small and thin to digg them out. Are there such user-input problems in the M6?
4. Simply - is the sound quality good? I don't mean the bundled earphones' quality (I'm nearly sure that I'm not going to use them), but the player's output itself - any noticeable hiss? Are the trebles alright and the bass is deep? Are there farting sounds at the highest volume level like in my current player?
5. Can I set animated wallpapers (.gif)?
6. Can I set the touchpad's sensitiveness manually?
7. Can I enable EQ/bass boost/loudness and stuff in the FM radio?
8. Does the display and the reflective rear side get easily scratched during normal usage?
9. Can I tell the player to simply start playing random songs from the collection, without having to select one?
EDIT: 10. I saw a "by Dane-Elec" thing under the Meizu's logo on some Allegro (polish QXL) auctions, what's this?
I think that's all for now, I'll post when I want to ask anything else.
Greetings from Poland,

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts1. 2.003.2 is official, 2.004.1 is unofficial.
2. It is solid and durable. Treat it as if you'd treat yourself, and it'll be fine.
3. There are silicon or crystal casings available.
4. Sound quality is the best you can find. There are some hiss and noticeable with some headphones.
5. No you cannot. You can set them but they won't animate.
6. No you cannot.
7. Yes you can.
8. Again, that depends on how you treat and use your player.
9. No you cannot. Can you tell someone to do something without telling them?
10. Dane-Elec is a version of the miniplayer, uses a different firmware, however that can be changed to non-Dane-Elec firmware. Dane-Elec firmware has some limitations (e.g. volume limit and no FM radio) to suit its area of sale.Meizu M8 MiniOne

7. Because FM Radio is not processed through the main audio chip but rather through the dedicated receiver chip EQ and other sound settings do not have any effect while listening to FM broadcasts.

10-14-2007 #4I mean, can I do the same trick as I'm doing in my current player? Like this: Open the now playing menu, enable the random playing mode, press Play and then click FFWD/RWD so a random song pops up and starts playing?9. No you cannot. Can you tell someone to do something without telling them?
Looks like it's the same system as in my player - it's noticeably louder than the MP3 player, i can't set the EQ and - what's quite annoying - I can 'hear' the display as random short clicks and beeps, or even some scary high-pitched noises on frequencies 93.5 to 98 when changing the volume. I guess there are no such noise problems on a hi-end player like the M6, right?7. Because FM Radio is not processed through the main audio chip but rather through the dedicated receiver chip EQ and other sound settings do not have any effect while listening to FM broadcasts.

Really? It has even got its own fansite, so I think it isn't THAT bad, in fact, from what I can read on Meizu Me, it's quite nice and has everything I need... So maybe explain what kind of bugs do you mean?

I can upload an mp3 and play it, right? So what's the problem?
Anyways, one question more, is the screen's casing is made of trasparent plastic or glass?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIve had mine for a few weeks. I love it. My only real gripe is that the touch is a little too sensative. Hopefully a firmware update will correct this or allow you to adjust it.
As for the casing... it's pretty much the same materials as an iPod Nano 1Gen w/ black or white hard plastic front and metal back. I wouldn't be surprised if it is the same materials as the iPods (being that they are both made in China ).

tataku, you are wrong. they are great. so there are a few bugs in the systems, but on the whole all meizu players operate without fault and push out music of a quality very few other players can even dream of matching.
i use my m3 a lot, and the stuttering problem occurs with only 2% opf the albums i play (max).
come on folks, if you want a machine to play music then judge it on its ability to play music- meizu is one of the top contenders.....
all we hope for is for meizu to iron out any system imperfections to give us a class breaking piece of equipment

I would highly recommend the M6 Mini Player, sure, you get the odd small problems when you first operate them but once you update the firmware and get used to the way they operate they are very reliable.
The best thing about the M6 is www.meizume.com and the ability to update the firmware as well as customize it.
The only slight negative is the video playback, it works perfect but only up to 20 fps which is okay for small music videos etc. but if you are buying it to watch 1 hour+ videos then perhaps you should consider a Rockchip devise such as the Onda VX 858 or Teclast C290 .
Why do the people who post all these negative posts about the M6 still spend a lot of time on this site???

Can I expect a crash at Updating Media Library screen while uploading 1 GB of 128k mp3s at one go?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsupdating the music library means its reloading ALL music, not just the new ones, so it shouldn't be any different from updating after charging it and you already having 1gig on it

OK, thanks, next question.
Does the battery have a memory effect so I can upload music only when the battery is dead (otherwise it may reduce its operating time)?

Lithium Polymer batteries do not suffer from memory problems, they actually respond better to frequent top up charges rather than deep cycle charging that occurs when you run the battery completely flat which will stress the battery and shorten it's life.
