I made a mistake updating the firmware. Downloaded and unzipped the latest one, put it in the 'root' folder, switched off and switched on. I got the 'no resource error', but instead of just putting the resource file back in I put both files by mistake...

Now I have a white rectangle on a black background. None of the buttons work and the USB connection doesn't work.

Same here. I have upgraded the firmware dozens of times. But this one (upgrading to 2.004 beta) all I get is a white screen, non responding buttons, no way to be recognized by DFU tools, no way to reset......

Try pressing and holding the enter button down for 30 seconds, then try turning on your player.

if reset doesnt work try a format
trun on player, keep power button pressed down and press and hold FF button at the same time for abouyt 40 secs

this happened to me too a bunch of times and i always managed to fix it
