    Album Art

Hi, I have just spent a couple of hours adding album art to my miniPlayer and I thought I might share some of the strange things I found when trying to get this to work.

First of all, it is not the same as Windows Media Player album art and this will not work if you simply copy the folder from you computer to the mini player.

I read somewhere on this forum that you must create a .jpg image aprox. 100x100 and name it the following way -
    | Album Name | Artist Name | .jpg |

I found that this worked for me sometimes and wondered why it did not work all the time, I thought it must have been a bad jpg image or the player was acting strangely until I found out exactly what is required.
    1. Create a .jpg image aprox. 100x100 or larger (larger will be shown but reduced to aprox. 100x100)
    2. Name the .jpg with the exact album name.
    3. If the album / folder is in your player's Music folder then you will find that you now have your album art displaying.
    4. If your album / folder is within another folder and then inside your music folder then you must include that folders name in your .jpg :-
Let's say you create a folder inside your player's music folder and give it the artist's name :-

    | (Music Folder) - Music |
    | (Artist Folder) - Enya |
    | (Album Folder) - Amarantine |
    | (Track) -Amarantine.mp3 |
So now you must name the album art with the album name as before but now add the exact name of the folder that your album folder is placed in. Add this to the end of the album name without any spaces :-

    From the above example -
    |Album Name|Artist Folder|.jpg|
    AmarantineEnya.jpg

So from this we can see that the player picks up the album name from the .mp3 file and uses the rest of the name to work out where it is.

I hope this helps other's who have not been able to get their album art to show.

Please let me know if you have found out another way!

That is great information. Just a quick question....

Where does the .jpg itself go?
    In the Music\Artist\Album folder?

Or do you create a folder under the root directory and put all the .jpg files for all the albums in that one folder?

    thanks.

Just put the .jpg file in the folder with your music (.mp3) files.

If you do not have album images you can get them from the music folders in windows, they are hidden so you will need to make sure that you adjust the file view settings in windows explorer to show hidden files.

You will also need to open them with your image application and re-save them as they are marked hidden and it appears that you cannot alter them.

    Good luck!

Just mucked around with it a bit more and found that you can use the album art from the music folders (created by Windows Media Player) even although it is hidden, just copy it to your folder with the mp3 files and name it as above.

It is probably best this way (hidden) as it does not show up in the mini player browser when browsing for music files.

Should do a search on the forums here for Album Art because several posts exist on it. I found an easy way that is far less troublesome than what is described here. I just use a program that when pointed to the direction in my Meizu, it finds all the files, and I can search for each album easily and apply images directly. It works like a charm.
It only has a problem finding a few and then you could use the manual method described above. I think the program is Album Art Downloader and it is linked in one of the threads.

I did do a search ghos and I did have the tool already installed on my pc but when it did not work for some albums I carried out the process manually to gain a better understanding and get it to work.

When using the tool you would believe that the album art was being picked up by the album name followed by the artist but as you can see from above this is not the case.

As the other posts were getting old and long with a general belief that the artist was part of the required name I decided to post my findings in a fresh post.
