OK, I'm just going to start from the beginning and hopefully one of you will be patient enough to walk me through this process and help me understand what I'm doing.
I got the Meizu miniplayer 2GB Version SP as a birthday present and downloaded some music from Napster (that I had burned to a disk, downloaded to my computer and then moved over to the MUSIC folder in MEIZU). The song shows up along with all the information about the song, musician, etc.. but---- where it shows the time of the song - it says 00:00:00. It moved the info but not the actual music - I haven't downloaded any software from MEIZU - am I supposed to? If so, what???
I moved pictures over from my computer to the PHOTO folder on Meizu and it came over just fine - something is missing or I did something wrong with the music portion.
PLEASE HELP! I feel like an idiot but...

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsHow are you using Napster? Is it the subscription plan (download as many songs as you like), or just standard where you pay 99cents per song? Because I don't think the M6 will work with subscription services. Basically the player will see that the file is there, but it doesn't know how to open the file. Good Luck!

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI was using the .99 a song deal. And the last time I tried to bring in a new song - I paid the .99, downloaded it and when I brought it into my computer it came over without the details - no artist, song, etc.
This is making me nuts!!! I thought this was all supposed to be easy!

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsLiterally, walk me through the entire process of how you go about putting music into the Meizu. Did you download anything into your computer first?? Even the steps you think are dumb - please...

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsokay, i am not a native speaker, but i hope you'll understand my explaination.
there are 2 kind of music files out there - there is "free" music (which can be downloaded mostly illegaly, can be burned as audio cd, and used in every way you imagine) and there is "DRM" music. DRM stands for digital rights management and is supposed to control the usage of the music. DRM music can be limited in many various ways, for example you are only allowed to play a song 3 times a day, or you are not allowed to burn it to a cd, or you are forced to listen to it from your computer only. it's more like you have rented several usage rights for a song.
many online mp3 sellers only sell DRM music, 'cause the big music labels are afraid of people sharing their legally bought music.
because DRM is such a special and secret technology it's not freely and widely available and thus it's not integrated in every mp3 player on the market. to make the confusion perfect, there are many different DRM styles out there, and I don't know a single player that would play all of them without problems.
I am not sure, if the Meizu M6 does have any DRM compability at all, 'cause from my point of view, buying DRM proteced music is a waste of money for various reasons... but we won't go down this road, or it will be a real huge post
to adress your main issue here: let's start with something as easy as it can be - let's first get some free music that can be downloaded legally. as classic musik is mostly rather old, there are (in most cases) no copyrights protecting them and thats also why it's easy to get good classic music online.
try this link:
http://music.download.com/andrys/360...st_tab_apsongs
feel free to select any song you like on this page - i recommend listing to Rachmaninoff Prelude Op. 23 No. 4 in D (1903) (4:27) :D
to get the song to your harddrive you'll need to press the link labeled "download free mp3", and in the next step you browser (which is firefox i hope) will ask you what to do with this file.
tell your computer to save the file, and choose any direction you like (i mostly use my desktop for this).
the download should be done quite fast, and to move the music to your meizu will be a walk in the park, if you understood all i've written so far.
connect your meizu with the USB cable (the one that did come with the meizu) to your computer and browse to it's root directory (root means the most basic view - in this directory you should see the folders on your meizu named music, photos, videos, ect. ). now select the music file you have downloaded prior to this and do a right click on it - select the option "copy" - now click on the folder named music on the meizu (it will turn blue) and right click on that folder - select the option paste. you should have just transfered your first song to the meizu (that will actually play
)...
if you are coming from a country where downloading music is no crime, i recommend to throw napster and all this DRM music away (apart from music you have allready bought), because you'll have a lot of problems with it.
using limewire should be quite easy, but it's been a while since i looked at this piece of software. you should of course have installed it, and launched it, if it asks you for something special, look for any recommendations or just press next. the only part where you'll need to watch out is when it asks you what folder you want to share with others. don't share everything! limit your shared folders to your music files only, and don't share music you bought from napster. (in case you are unsure - don't share anything at all)
now you should be able to identify something where you can enter your search - that will mostly look like the place in your browser where you type "www.google.com" to get to google. there you should enter whatever you are looking for - let's try "3 doors down" (without the quotes) and hit enter.
now below that there should be a list getting populated. wait a little (several seconds should be enough) and then double-click on the first entry in the list. (or whatever you want to download).
the rest should be done automatically by the programm...
(if would be fine, if someone could add some more explainations to limewire, as i am not really familiar with this software.)
greetings from good old europe

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsNice explanation Terror.
One additional though is you could put a CD in your drive and it will bring up your default player which is usually Windows Media Player. It can be used to rip the cd even with default settings and give you files to place on the Meizu.
Sorry to say though it does take a little bit of knowledge of files and computers to load it with mp3 or wma files. The Meizu itself doesn't require additional software to work correctly though. Just as explained above DRM files won't play and are a pain in the arse to deal with.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI think you should check to see which mode you have the player in, because there are 2 transfer modes, MSC and MTP. MSC mode means you can only transfer using windows media player, and supports DRM10, I think... and MTP means you plug it in like a usb drive and drag and drop your files into the folders.
I think if you have it in MSC Mode, which if I remember right, is what mode the player loaded with new firmware comes as by default, that regular transfer won't work.
Anyone here care to test this out or verify? I haven't had the newer firmware and my player is still dead.I swim through a sea of stars, without looking back to shore...

it's exactly the other way round :
MSC = Mobile Storage Device (like any USB Harddisk)
MTP = Media Transfer Protocol (for Windows Mediaplayer)
MSC is what you need to transfer files and firmware.BatMan, the free video converter for Meizu players. Problems ? English First Aid here. Deutsche Erste Hilfe hier.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI'd just like to mention that if one does a thorough search for "Fair Use" named programs, one might find that DRM media could be... Well... Used fairly
One could read after the Wikipedia article "Windows Media DRM" for example!
