    Charging Issues (URGENT)

Guys, I'm havin quite a problem with my M6 here.

Got my M6 3 weeks ago and its been a nightmare ever since.

I charged my first player first by USB for 8 hours (as instructed by the seller). Powered it on and found that the battery indicator is empty. So I plugged it for AC charging for another 8 hours. After that the player felt hot and the battery was still empty.

The seller I got the player from gave me a replacement last weekend. I wiped out the battery only hours ago and so I tried to charge it by USB when I got home. In less than 20 minutes, the player indicates "Fully charged".

Powered it on but the battery remains EMPTY. I do not want to risk anything again.

Can anyone here provide some advice?

You do not need to charge it when it comes new. It is already charged. When you had the problem, would the player power on? It might be a faulty battery meter, or the firmware is messed up. A hot battery is normal, as long as it doesn't scortch. A M6's battery should be fully charged in 3 hours. Try running the player. If it does turn on and lasts for quite a while without having to recharge, it is fine. Try re-loading the firmware in that case. It might be faulty firmware. Tell me what happens. If it does work, ill give you info on upgrading firmware. Hope this helps.

so you've had 2 separate systems, from the same vendor, have similar type battery issues, all within 3 weeks? who are you getting them from? don't mean to be so cynical, but I'd really suspect that supply, and would probably be asking for my money back by now...

don't use passive usb hubs to load your player. Only active ones or directly in the PC usb ports.

All other users who got their players from the same guy don't seem to experience whatever problems I'm havin with my player, sigh.

Anyway, I updated the firmware already but haven't tried charging it.

What is this MTP/MSC option under the USB options in the player, anyone?

Thanks for all the replies thus far.

maybe you are trying to charge it on a non-powered usb hub? are you plugging it into the back of the computer where the usb port is on the mother board?

When I got my M6 (about 3 wks ago) I plugged it into the USB, and it was reporting charged within about 10 minutes. Someone had mentioned above you might be plugged into a passive hub, but in that case, it should not have gotten hot....then you mentioned you plugged it into a wall charger, with still not positive results. Did you use the included USB cable? I have found the included USB cable does NOT work with my Motorola cell phone for charging, but the M6 will charge with the Motorola cable. Strange, but true.

Use MSC. It lets you drag and drop files in to your player. MTP requires sometiong like WMP11.

Does the battery icon state that there is any charge right now?
If the player still turns on, It might be because of a faulty battery meter. That might explain why both of your player had the same problem. If the battery meter is faulty, and you are trying to charge it, even after the battery is full, the charger still tries to charge it, because the voltage of the battery isn't being monitored. Because it keeps on trying to charge, the charge will not go to the battery, but end up as heat. That explains why it never displayed full, and it felt hot after 8 hours, while a normal charge should only take 3 hours. I say return the player, and buy from another seller. I reccommend JTC Electronics.

I no longer think is the device problem, since u get a replacement and same thing happen again. will it be the usb cable problem? try upgrade the firmware n monitor the charging status.. DON'T juz let it charge for 8HRS!! monitor what happen to the meter. After an hour, plug it out and see is it empty. Also, remembered to choose the correct firmware. Is latest SP version. Please update us your status once you hav try.
